After sponsoring the food show "Sharp Taste" hosted by Nicholas Tse, Oliveira became famous. It is under the same umbrella as Arowana, and with the influence of its parent company, Wilmar International Group of Singapore, and its huge advertising investment, it quickly conquered the Chinese olive oil market, ranking first in the B2C retail market in terms of sales and second in the olive oil category of Tmall Taobao.
 
In 2013, Oliveira introduced China's first IOC-certified laboratory, and the scenery was unparalleled for a while. But as a Singaporean brand, Oliveira does not have its own plantations, and the raw materials are all imported from Italy or Spain, and in 2015 it was also assessed as unqualified by the IOC-certified German olive oil review committee, and was characterized as an inedible virgin olive lamp oil.
 
The biggest difference between virgin olea europaea lamp oil and extra virgin olive oil is that the raw material is not fresh and has an acidity of more than 2%. The team only conducted a sensory assessment of the oil sent for testing, but did not test for free fatty acid content, and the samples submitted for testing still theoretically met the requirements of the Chinese national standard for extra virgin. After 2015, Oliveira did not change suppliers, but tightened quality control, and in 2018 won a gold medal at the "New York International Olive Oil Competition", making a beautiful comeback.
 
Among its products, the white-label extra virgin olive oil has an acidity of no more than 0.8%, barely meeting the national standard. The avocado flavor is very light, the smell is fresh, and it is suitable for mixing seafood salad, and the price of a single liter is nearly 100 yuan, but it is mainly a brand premium. Its quality is exactly the same as that of the red label, which is packaged in China, but the red label is a new product launched by Oliveira in 2017 when he tried the "Internet celebrity live broadcast" marketing model, only for online, often buy one get one free, the price is much more affordable than the white label, and the price of a single increase after the discount is only 66 yuan.
 
Although the gold standard has the same acidity of 0.8%, it has a polyphenol content of up to 400 ppm, which is twice that of ordinary olive oil. In fact, many brands of green olive oil can easily exceed 400 ppm of polyphenols, such as the 1,000 ppm of the Crudo Sei Cinque Zero series, but these brands often translate the polyphenol content into bitter, spicy and other taste descriptions, which does not meet the consumer demand of the Chinese market. With high polyphenol gold paste, plus the original import, Oliveira Gold Standard extra virgin single liter soared to 188 yuan.
 
It is worth noting that Oliveira also has a black label blend of olive oil. It is called "suitable for Chinese cooking", but in fact, it is mixed with a large amount of refined olive oil that has lost its polyphenol content and olive flavor, so it is not recommended to buy it. Some foreign brands of "pure olive oil" are essentially blended olive oils, and to buy olive oil with pure flavor, you need to look for "extra virgin".
