OLyssos is part of Botzakis S.A., a medium-sized Greek family business, named "Athena" after its distributor in China, Beijing Athena International Trading Co., Ltd., which in fact includes Botzakis S.A.'s sub-brands Cretan Prince and Ousia.
OLyssos olive oil first entered the Chinese market with its own halo, and its purchase agreement was completed in the presence of the prime ministers of China and Greece, and it was exhibited as an olive oil designated by the Greek government at the 2010 World Expo. However, this advantage has not been carried forward and translated into purchasing power, and OLyssos, like many small oil farms trying to break into China, has failed to take root in China, and has gradually retreated, but it can still be found in more than 30 countries around the world.
OLyssos has won the IOC Mario Solinas Green Fruit Award three times, and in 2017, its Organic EVOO won the only gold medal in the "Traditional Olive Oil" category. Tradition here refers to organic farming, and in fact, OLyssos is not the small Greek oil farm it is imagined with its modern laboratories, temperature-controlled cold press workshops and 1,000-ton stainless steel oil storage depots. The oil mill and packing plant are located in the village of Alagni in Crete, near the PDO-certified Peza appellation.
This geography allows OLyssos to also have PDO certified products, Peza PDO in milky tin cans pressed with a single fruit of the Greek species Kolas, with an acidity of less than 0.3%. Rich in polyphenols, with a deep and bright green color, green tomatoes have a strong fruity aroma, cool and mild bitter and spicy taste, and can be combined with seafood, chicken and other light dishes with less oil, which can be well integrated with the original flavor of the ingredients. However, OLyssos' Peza PDO is not as changeable as Iliya's, and the sales channel is not as smooth as Iliya, and it is also sold for 18 pounds and 750ml in Europe, which is about 160 yuan.
The Empress of Crete, who won the gold medal in the traditional project of the Cretan Olive Oil Competition, was cold-pressed within one hour of hand-picking the fruit of the Cretan Olive Oil Competition, almost setting a record for the fastest. It has both the PDO certification issued by the European Union and the Greek Agricultural Products Certification Management Organization, and is the aristocratic role of OLyssos extra virgin, and 500ml is sold for about 150 yuan. As the main force in the Chinese market, the taste of the Cretan Empress is relatively bland, and if you buy for the characteristic bitterness of olives, you may be disappointed.
Similar to Iliya's Platinum Selection range, OLyssos also has spray-packed flavored olive oils, which are also botanical flavors with the addition of sesame oils, which is not recommended.
