Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall - Institutional Reviews

The Wuchang Uprising fired the "first shot" of the Xinhai Revolution and was of great significance in modern Chinese history, so it was called the "Gate of the Republic of China". The Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall is a commemorative museum established on the basis of the former site of the Hubei Military Governor's Mansion of the Military Government of the Republic of China (that is, the former site of the Wuchang Uprising Military Government).

The Red House was originally the site of the Hubei Consultative Bureau established by the Qing Dynasty government, and was completed in 1910 (the second year of Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty). After the success of the Wuchang Uprising, Sun Yat-sen established the Military Government of the Republic of China and the Hubei Military Governor's Mansion here, and the memorial hall was rebuilt on this basis. The Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall covers an area of more than 20,000 square meters, with a construction area of nearly 10,000 square meters, and displays a large number of precious historical relics during the Xinhai Revolution.

The Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall has two buildings, the first building is mainly the "Restoration Exhibition of the Former Site of the Hubei Military Governor's Mansion", which is also the first place for tourists to visit. The exhibition mainly restores the office space of the administrative institutions of the Hubei Military Governor's Office, and tourists who are interested in the administrative institutions set up during the Republic of China may wish to stop and visit. Tourists who want to feel the atmosphere of the Xinhai Revolution have to go to the Historical Records Exhibition Hall, which is also the second building of the memorial hall. The Historical Records Exhibition Hall introduces the Wuchang Uprising, the response of the provinces and the establishment of the Republic of China in an all-round way through three parts: "The Wind Moves Hanshang", "Wuchang Shouyi" and "Towards the Republic". Many of the photographs on display are impressive, such as those of people who were called upon to cut their braids after the success of the Xinhai Revolution and the bloody clothes of many people with lofty ideals.

There are many other precious cultural relics in the Historical Monuments Museum, many of which were donated by the families of revolutionary fighters. In addition to the handwritten letters of Sun Yat-sen, Li Yuanhong, Huang Xing and others, there are also some miscellaneous pieces that also reflect the revolutionary atmosphere at that time. The "Great Map of the Qing Revolution" published by the Japanese newspaper "Tokyo Nikichi Shimbun" 24 days after the Wuchang Uprising described in detail the revolutionary situation at that time, and the bloody clothes of Huang Zhenxiang, a member of the League, reflected the heroic struggle of the soldiers of the revolutionary army to defend the victory of the Wuchang First Uprising.

Some of the medals of the revolutionary period are also worth seeing. Xiong Bingkunxun's five-digit badge is a star-shaped silver cloisonne badge, surrounded by peony flowers and leaves, and the workmanship is very exquisite. Wenhu Chapter is a military merit medal, the tiger form in the center of the chapter is well-behaved and cute, but it looks like a flower cat, and now it seems quite interesting.

Compared with the intelligent tour facilities of some memorial halls, the Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall uses intelligent guidance to the real place. Before visiting the Red Mansion, tourists can learn about the relevant information of the memorial hall through the "Bird's Eye View of the Red Mansion" intelligent guide device. It is worth mentioning that the guide equipment is also set up with an interactive function for visitors, through which visitors can answer questions and increase the fun of the journey.

The Wuchang Uprising Memorial Museum is free to visit, but you need to queue up to get a ticket to enter the museum, and group visitors need to make a reservation one day in advance. From Tuesday to Sunday, there are four free lectures per day, and the rest of the time is a paid lecture at a price of 50 yuan per session.
