Wuhan University-Institutional Review

With its profound cultural heritage and beautiful campus environment, Wuhan University has always been one of the most representative scenic spots in Wuhan. In recent years, with the continuous popularity of "Wuhan University Cherry Blossoms", the tourism popularity of Wuhan University has also increased, and checking in Wuhan University has also become a standard action for tourists to come to Wuhan.

Wuhan University is one of the oldest universities in China. In 1893, Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Huguang, founded the Ziqiang School in Wuchang. Subsequently, the Ziqiang School was renamed National Wuhan University in 1928 through several names such as Dialect School, Wuchang High School and Wuchang Zhongda. Its site was also moved from Dongchangkou (now Yuemachang) in Wuchang City to today's Luojia Mountain, and Wuhan University has been an important landmark in Wuhan for nearly 100 years.

The archway at the entrance of Wuhan University has a deep historical imprint, its origin can be traced back to 1931, and it was demolished in 2012 due to the construction of the Bayi Road underpass. The memorial arch seen today is rebuilt near the original location, which basically restores the original appearance of the memorial arch, and the first photo of many tourists and Wuhan University is in front of the memorial arch. Walking into the archway is Luojia Square, a large lawn is evergreen all year round, which can be used by tourists to rest. There are also many ginkgo trees planted around the square, especially in autumn and winter, the scenery is very pleasant.

Cherry blossom viewing is the most popular item in Wuhan University tour. Every year during the cherry blossom season, Wuhan University becomes one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in the country. There are more than 1,000 cherry trees in Wuhan University, including Japanese cherry blossoms (i.e., Edo cherry blossoms), mountain cherry blossoms and other varieties, most of which are concentrated in the cherry blossom avenue. Wuhan University is a sea of cherry blossoms in full bloom, and the annual cherry blossom season attracts millions of tourists. The cherry blossoms bloom in early March, with peak bloom in late March and late bloom until early April. During this period, due to the large number of visitors, the school has implemented a limited number of visitors, and visitors need to make an online reservation in advance. In particular, self-driving tourists are reminded to note that not every gate of Wuhan University allows motor vehicles to enter and exit in both directions, and pay attention to the guidance signs when driving in and out of the campus. Of course, Wuhan University not only admires cherry blossoms, but also has bamboo gardens, laurel gardens, pine gardens, maple gardens, and plum gardens on campus, and there are beautiful scenery to enjoy in spring, summer, autumn and winter.

If there is a seasonal limit to seeing cherry blossoms, then the early buildings of Budai University are beautiful in all seasons. The early buildings of Wuhan University are one of the largest and most beautiful groups of modern university buildings in China, including the Songqing Gymnasium, the Old Zhaishe of the Cherry Garden, the Old Library, the Banshan Lu, and the 18 Buildings. These buildings combine the sophistication of Chinese architecture with the grandeur of Western architecture, and if you want to leave a commemorative photo full of literary style, it is a good choice to check in these early buildings.

The Old Library of Wuhan University is located at the top of the Lion Mountain, which is the highest point of Wuhan University, and is also regarded as the landmark building and spiritual symbol of Wuhan University. The exterior of the old library is in the style of a traditional Chinese palace, and the interior adopts Western-style cloisters, stilted buildings, stone arches, floor-to-ceiling glass, etc., bringing the "combination of Chinese and Western" to the extreme. On the hillside is another famous building, the Old Saisha, also known as the Cherry Blossom Castle, which consists of four dormitories connected by three Roman arches and still serves as student dormitories. The Song Qing Gymnasium located at the foot of the mountain was funded and built by Li Yuanhong's family, and "Song Qing" is Li Yuanhong's number. With a construction area of more than 2,000 square meters, the gymnasium was the highest university gymnasium in China at that time. In addition, imposing early buildings such as the law school and the old administrative building are also clustered around Lion Rock.

Eighteen villas were built for the professors of Wuhan University, located on the southeast mountainside of Luojia Mountain, a total of eighteen villas. Although four buildings were added later, the name of eighteen buildings is still used today. The eighteen buildings are in the style of English country houses, surrounded by red tiles and green bricks and big trees, and the environment is very beautiful. Wu Mi, Zhou Enlai, Guo Moruo and many other influential figures in the Republic of China period have lived here.

In addition to the early buildings, some modern buildings of Wuhan University are also quite distinctive, the most representative of which is the Wanlin Art Museum. Its shape is very much like a huge meteorite flying from the sky, so it is also called "flying stone". The museum has many valuable collections from the founding of the school and can be viewed by visitors. At the same time, the museum also often holds art exhibitions such as collection exhibitions and art exhibitions, which are not to be missed by visitors who love art.

If you can't get enough of the campus after visiting the campus, you can go to the Lingbo Gate Trestle to check in and take pictures. The famous "see the sea" scenic spot Lingbo Gate Zhan Bridge is located in the northeast of the Faculty of Engineering of Wuhan University, and you can see the mighty East Lake when you get out of Lingbo Gate. When you walk on the pier, you can feel the quiet and lovely East Lake.
