Danone is one of the world's top three dairy companies, ranking third in Rabobank's 2018 "Top 20 Global Dairy Companies", with annual revenue of US$17.6 billion. Danone's fresh dairy products are the world's largest sellers, contributing half of the Group's revenue. Danone's Activia, the 30-year-old brand, is one of the world's most popular yogurt brands and is sold in more than 70 countries.
 
Yogurt is a low-temperature dairy product, and it is very important to maintain the cold chain throughout transportation and sales, which has also become a limiting factor for foreign brands to enter the Chinese market. Danone took a cooperative approach to sales in China, and was a close partner with Guangming in the early days, but the cooperation broke down in 2007 and turned to Mengniu to provide production technology and capital, and the current Biyou brand yogurt is produced by the Mengniu factory.
 
In the Chinese market, Biyou has launched 5 series of products, including original additive-free, fruit sucking, kaquzi, mellow moment, and double-layer buttermilk, but the products are not well-known and have no official online sales channels, and are mainly sold in boutique supermarkets and convenience stores. The sales of new products such as Biyou double-layer buttermilk and gold alcohol are average, and there are fewer stores, while the three types of fruit sucking, Kaquzi and original flavor are more common.
 
Kaquzi is a mixed grain yogurt, its product packaging design is more unique, the top layer is a sealed package of oats, almonds, pumpkin seeds mixed grain chips, separate from the yogurt, you must pour it yourself when eating. This setting retains the crispiness of the cereal, which makes it taste like yogurt. The nutritional value of Kaquzi yogurt itself is also very good, 100g contains 3.7g of protein, 3.5g of fat, and 100mg of calcium, but the price of the product is high, and the price of 130g in a single cup is about 13 yuan.
 
The original additive-free and fruit-suction series are slightly ordinary, and there is no obvious difference from the common basic yogurt. The alcohol series is the series with the highest protein content of Biyou, with a protein content of 3.7g/100g in the original gold alcohol, and a protein content of 3.5g/100g in yellow peach and strawberry flavors. The price of the 125g specification of the alcohol series is about 5 yuan, which is much cheaper than that of Kaquzi, but it is relatively rare offline and inconvenient to buy.
 
After the end of the cooperation between Danone and Guangming, its Danone and Biyou brands have been selling poorly, and it is difficult to compete directly with China's local yogurt brands. In view of this, in addition to establishing a joint venture yogurt factory with Mengniu, Danone has also completely handed over the Chinese business of the Biyou brand to Mengniu.
