Aquafina is PepsiCo's purified water brand, which was originally translated as "Bing Chun" when it entered China, and was changed to "Pure Water Music" when it collided with Harbin Ice Pure Beer. In the U.S. purified water market, where the brand concentration is not high, Aquafina's market share in 2018 was as high as 8.8%, second only to the mineral water brand Dasani's 9%.
Aquafina uses a seven-layer filtration process with reverse osmosis as the core to produce water, and conducts 86 items and 320 water quality tests on pure water every day, ensuring that the water is pure. In addition to reverse osmosis, ozone and ultraviolet sterilization, ozone sterilization can easily lead to excessive bromate in water, but the company issued a detailed water quality report, showing that the bromate content of pure water is 0, showing outstanding water treatment process, and has passed the certification of NSF and IBWA of the International Federation of Bottled Water.
With the help of PepsiCo's strong backing, Aquafina became popular in the United States in only 3 years. Before 2018, Aquafina's market share was higher than that of Dasani, and in 2009, the national market share even reached 13.4%, ranking first in the list. Now it is gradually falling behind, but it is in line with the general trend of mineral water and pure water decline in the context of consumption upgrading.
Currently, Aquafina has 40 water purification plants in the United States and Canada, with strong production capacity. In 2011, it entered China to open a production line, which is produced and operated by PepsiCo's 24 wholly-owned and joint venture bottling companies in China. In 2012, Pepsi reached a cooperation with Master Kong, and Pure Water Music expanded its capacity through more than 80 factories of Master Kong to radiate the entire Chinese market. The increase in the market share of Pepsi carbonated drinks and purified water in China is inseparable from the channel support of Master Kong.
Limited by channel operations, Pure Water has not deployed bottled water business in China, and it is still not well-known. There are only 350ml and 550ml bottled water, the price is comparable to Cestbon, at the price of 2 yuan, the bottle is made of the same easy-to-recycle materials as ice dew, but it is stronger than the ice dew bottle, more high-grade, and has reached a good balance between environmental protection and appearance.
