Shek O Beach
The beach water quality in the southern part of Hong Kong Island is relatively similar, and Shek O is second only to Repulse Bay in popularity, receiving 2,300 visitors a day even on weekdays and nearly 6,000 visitors on public holidays.
The length of the beach is only about 300 meters, but it is very wide and relatively clean. The beach faces southeast to enjoy the sunrise, but unfortunately the view is blocked by the adjacent Datouzhou and Wufenzhou. There is also Shek O Back Beach 200 meters away in the north straight, it is not recommended to swim in Hou Tan, the water quality parameters here are weaker, and the quality of the beach is not good, but the advantage lies in the view, and Shek O Back Beach is more suitable for enjoying the sunrise.
Between the two beaches is Shek O Village, where the mansions are neatly arranged, the ground is clean, and many exterior walls are painted in color, and many tourists come here to check in. If you want to enjoy the sunrise, you may wish to book a homestay in advance, and many rooms can also look at the sea from the window.
In addition, the beach is also worth a glance. The area of Datouzhou is not large, the vegetation on the continent is dense, and there are mountain rocks at the base of the island, and the topographic characteristics are relatively rich. It is worth mentioning that you need to pass through the powder blue bridge to reach Datouzhou, and the bridge is also a popular attraction because of its cute color. Shek O Beach is suitable for couples to visit and also suitable for overnight stays, Shek O Village has a bit of island life atmosphere, but compared with Cheung Chau and Peng Chau, the tourist atmosphere is stronger.
In terms of transportation, you can take the Shau Shek Line public light bus at Shau Kei Wan MTR Station.
