Po Toi Island
Po Toi Island is the southernmost island in Hong Kong and is known as the "South Pole", which is full of strange rocks and rocks, and the geomorphological features are very different from the other islands in this recommended list.
Getting to Po Tai is not easy. First take the rail transit to Wong Chuk Hang MTR Station, there is a bus stop of "Nam Long Shan Road, Wong Chuk Hang Road" near Exit B, take bus No. 48 westbound to Aberdeen Fish Wholesale Market, and there is a Po Toi Island special line operated by Tsui Wah Shipping Company nearby. There are flight schedules at the pier, and the transportation on Potoi Island is not as convenient as other islands, so be sure to take photos and keep an eye on the return flight.
After landing, you should also take a map of the vicinity of the pier, Po Toi Island is short of water and electricity, it is best to plan the tour time reasonably so as not to miss the return boat. The island is sparsely populated, and some sections of the road are relatively simple, with huge primeval rocks as walking trails. The spatial location of the road is also distinctive, some sections are overhead on rocks, and some go straight through village trails and stores. When visiting, you need to fully trust the road signs, and walk in the direction of "Buddha Hand Rock", "Monk Rock" and "126 Lighthouse", most of the scenic spots are located in the same section, and it is recommended to walk to the southeast side of the island.
According to the order of the route, after passing the Po Tai stone carvings, the field of vision gradually widens, and the island presents a granite landform, and strange stones are revealed in turn. Known as the king of strange stones, the granite has been weathered into 5 rectangular stone pillars with sharp edges and corners, and several traces at the bottom stone seat are slightly similar to the arm joints. The other two strange stones on the island, "Monk Stone" and "Spirit Turtle Mountain Stone", are somewhat unworthy of their names.
Nam Kok Tsui is the southernmost tip of Po Toi Island, and there is a large area of granite rocks with different shapes and ups and downs, which can be climbed cautiously. This is the southernmost part of Hong Kong's land, and the terrain is steep, so visitors looking forward to the "white waves" may wish to stop by. On the east side of Nanjiaozui is the endless sea level, in this direction, the next island with a diameter of more than 3 kilometers is far away 200 kilometers. The nearby 126 Lighthouse is also a famous attraction for a photo opportunity, which is a sign of arrival at the "Hong Kong Antarctic".
The strange rocky scenery is near Nanjiaozui, and you can complete it all by walking along the trail. On the way back, you will encounter a fork in the road, pointing to the Niuhu Peak Viewing Sun Pavilion, Coffin Stone, Wu's Ancient Mansion and other scenic spots, you need to plan your time carefully and do not rush to visit. Among them, the viewing pavilion is the commanding height of the whole island, and the road is undulating; The coffin stone is just a cuboid "inlay" in the mountain rock; The Wu Mansion is a deserted house built in the 1920's. All three of these attractions are more time-consuming, and it is a safer decision to experience the rocky landscapes on the south side of the island.
We recommend visiting Po Toi Island on Saturdays, there are boats from Aberdeen to Po Toi Island at 10:00, and the only return departure time at 16:00; In contrast, Tuesday and Thursday must return at 14:00, which is a tighter time; On Sundays, there are more return boats, with departures at 15:00, 16:30 and 18:00, but there is only one outbound departure, and the departure time is advanced to 8:15.
Tips:
1. Take sun protection measures;
2. Prepare dry food and drinking water;
3. Carry your mobile phone and keep it charged;
4. Keep an eye on the time at all times so you don't miss the return boat.
