Chopin vodka, founded in 1992, is named after the famous Polish musician Chopin. Chopin Vodka is a family business run by the local Dorda family, now in its second generation. Over the years, the technique of making Chopin vodka has hardly changed, and much of the production process is still done by hand, and production is currently relatively small.
The distillery produces three different single-ingredient vodkas: potato, rye and wheat. The raw materials come from long-term cooperative family farms near the winery to ensure freshness and consistent quality. In recent years, wineries have even started to grow their own potatoes to see which variety is better for brewing. After the raw material is brewed, it is distilled four times to achieve a smooth and pure quality.
In the production of vodka, neutral vodka has always been the core product, but in order to cater to the taste of consumers, modern manufacturers mostly focus on the development of heavy seasoning series, and neutral vodka has been kept at 1-2 models for a long time. Chopin vodka is the complete opposite: it produces neutral vodka with a single ingredient and a uniform alcohol content of 40%. Unlike most big brands, they don't produce artificially flavored vodka, but put all their energy into neutral vodka products, and pay more attention to improving the process to give the vodka flavor.
On the basis of single-ingredient vodka, they have also produced a single series - not only limited to a single ingredient, but also limited to the raw material production and brewing year, produced from 2011 to 2015, and recorded the raw material harvest time, seed conditions, weather changes, soil conditions, etc. in each year.
In terms of wine tasting experience, potato vodka has a soft and slightly acidic vegetal aroma and earthy aroma on the nose, followed by a small amount of ash, and when tasted, it is soft and creamy on the taste, with a hint of cocoa beans, alternating bitterness and sweetness, and a semi-sweet aftertaste, leaving a juicy mouthfeel. Between 2006 and 2011, Chopin Potato Vodka won one double gold, three gold and two silver medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition; This vodka is also considered by the industry to be the best potato vodka.
At present, Chopin has not entered the domestic market. In the UK market, a 700ml bottle of potato vodka costs about £35, which is not a good value for money, but its single product is exquisite, and if you have the opportunity to buy it, it is definitely a choice that high-end drinkers should not miss.
