Rainbow Clay Yunnan Cuisine is undoubtedly the most successful Yunnan restaurant in Shanghai in the past two years, with 15 branches opened in just three years since its inception in October 2014.

The colored clay fully excavates the characteristics of Yunnan cuisine. First of all, Rainbow Muddy divides Yunnan cuisine into five categories: ethnic cuisine, banquet cuisine, home cooking, tea cuisine and vegetarian cuisine, and constantly develops each type of cuisine, striving to cover all mainstream Yunnan cuisine. At the same time, according to the change of seasons, the colored clay will introduce Yunnan's unique seasonal dishes, such as eating flowers in spring, eating fungi in summer, eating fruits in autumn, and eating wild vegetables in winter, which is very in line with the original ecological culture of Yunnan. Secondly, the chefs of each branch will be asked to innovate the dishes for a certain ingredient, and the chefs who make the most popular new dishes will be rewarded. This further enhances the richness of the menu. Not only that, the colored clay also introduced the Peacock Banquet, the Wa King Banquet and the Long Street Banquet, which are very characteristic of Yunnan ethnic minorities, and launched them in the form of an invitation-only system to attract the attention of diners. All banquet dishes can be found on the weekday menu, and diners who can't eat the banquet can also go directly to the restaurant. Finally, in order to enhance the stickiness of customers, Douglas also arranges two to three full-time singers and dancers in each store, and there are performances of welcome and send-off dances every day.

On the surface, it seems that dough has invested too much in how to promote its brand, and it may have overlooked the quality of the dishes. In fact, excellent production is the advantage of color clay. More than 80% of the ingredients are flown in from Yunnan, and the chefs at the restaurant are all local chefs with 10 to 15 years of experience. On top of that, the taste of the clay dishes follows its classic Yunnan flavor without too many improvements.

The decoration of each shop is different, as you can tell from the name of the shop, for example, there are many beautiful peacock models and pictures of peacock dancers in the peacock restaurant. At present, there are four brands of colored mud, namely colored mud Yunnan cuisine, cloud colored mud, Cang'er Town, and Yunnan Travel, the first three brands are only the difference in the name of the store, and there is little difference in other aspects; Yunnan Travels focuses on Yunnan cross-bridge rice noodles, and also contains some Yunnan special snacks, which diners can go to nearby according to their preferences.
