Flower Horse Paradise is the most beautiful Yunnan restaurant in Shanghai and the favorite among foreigners. Three of Horse Paradise's stores in Shanghai are all small bungalows, with the Julu Road store focusing on Northwest cuisine and the other two focusing on improved Yunnan cuisine. The decoration of the whole restaurant is mainly red, drawing on the iconic cultural elements of the Dai, Hani, Bai, Tibetan and Dunhuang peoples, adding many exotic decorations to the restaurant, such as the embroidery of ethnic minorities, the Buddha statue of Guanyin with a thousand hands, the ghostly mask, and the spire of the plate lid similar to the relic. Among them, the Julu Road store invited Chinese and Thai painters to spend half a year copying the classic murals of Dunhuang in a one-to-one ratio, and even the 10-meter-high painting pillars in the restaurant were hand-painted by the painters on the wooden board for nearly a year, and then superimposed and spliced together. Whether it's murals, pools, curtains, lamps, or chairs, you can see that the restaurant has put a lot of thought into the dining environment. Such an extravagant design may seem like a waste just for Yunnan cuisine, so both of the two stores in Flower Horse Paradise have a ground floor bar to attract more diners.
The chefs of Huama Paradise pay more attention to the appearance of the dishes, which are more in line with the tonality of the dining environment and the taste of foreigners, while the mushroom dishes in Yunnan are rare. The overall taste of the restaurant's dishes is light, and the dishes that are relatively worth trying include scallion and pepper chicken, chicken fir mushroom mixed with assorted vegetables, Yunnan wild vegetable cake, Baiyun tribe roast lamb chops, and Yunnan eggplant mixed with tofu. Flower Horse Paradise is more suitable for friends who want to experience a fresh environment, but they may not be able to eat authentic Yunnan cuisine here.
