Fox Umbrella is a long-established umbrella brand from London, England, founded in 1868 by Thomas Fox. Fox has always been handmade, and now Fox's factory and showroom are located in Shirley, near Croydon, and all their wings are assembled in the UK, although most of the metal parts such as the wing bones are made in China. Fox is known for its slender and slender umbrella shape when the umbrella is retracted.
It is worth mentioning that Thomas Fox has nothing to do with Samuel Fox, who invented the modern lightweight steel umbrella skeleton (trade name Paragon) in the history of umbrellas, and Samuel Fox is not the founder of the Fox brand of umbrellas. The Thomas Fox brand was sold to the Dixon family in the eighties of the 19th century and later acquired by the Garrett family. At the beginning of the 20th century, Fox Umbrella began to use Samuel Fox's umbrella frame in its own wing manufacturing, and proposed the idea of size standardization, and Fox Umbrella continued to use the Paragon skeleton until 2008, when the brand owner of the skeleton, Hyaland Fox Ltd, ceased production and operation and transferred all patents, technology and production to the Chinese factory.
However, Fox Umbrella also has a proud history. Benefiting from its experience in producing parachutes during World War II, Dixon's Fox Umbrella introduced the world's first nylon umbrella after the war, which was unveiled at the "Britain can make it" exhibition in 1947. Since then, nylon cloth has been widely used in umbrella fabrics.
Fox Umbrella offers a wide range of products, including Tube, Stick and Solid, but the Tube is the most prominent. Fox's tubular umbrellas are available in a range of ranges, the GA and GM are the entry-level range, the GA is the automatic wing, and the GM is the manual wing, all of which are only available in black polyester and are priced under £100. The GT series is a classic steel tube umbrella with a classic steel Focus frame, a 100% polyester surface in a variety of colors, and a handle of polished hardwood, bamboo, ash, chestnut, maple, Malacca, leather and more. In addition, there are nickel-plated, silver-plated, and gold-plated animal head handles.
The slender steel tube used by Fox is slim and lightweight, and the signature tight surface makes Fox almost synonymous with steel tube umbrellas and internationally famous. However, due to the slender body of the umbrella, when the Fox's tubular umbrella is equipped with a thicker head such as a bamboo handle, it will feel a little out of proportion, so if you don't mind this, it is recommended to focus on the slim handle.
Fox Umbrella's RGS series and GS series are Stick umbrellas, of which the RGS series is entry-level, the size is smaller, the quality of the accessories is also discounted, the upper and lower nests are made of plastic, the jump spring is imported products, and only a few classic handles such as Malacca, maple, bamboo and leather are available, and the price starts at 120 pounds. The GS series starts at 200 pounds and has relatively good workmanship, and many components such as jump springs, upper and lower nests, and clamping horses are handmade. The RS series is the most expensive Solid umbrella, available in ash, black maple, chestnut, hickory, oak, cherry, Congo, hazel, mahogany and other materials.
In terms of women's umbrellas, Fox is divided into two series: WL series (Tube) and WLS series (Stick and Solid). Like the regular men's umbrella, the women's umbrella is also dominated by Tube, with very few wooden umbrella shafts, and the handle used is more leather, nickel-plated and classic natural wood, etc., which is more feminine. In addition, Fox has a small selection of portable umbrellas with detachable handles and tails for easy travel in a travel suitcase.
