Mario Talarico is a Neapolitan legend. Similar to Maglia Francesco, Mario Talarico is also a small family-owned business that began in 1860. Located in a small alley in Naples' Spanish Quarter, this artisan workshop is where Mario Talarico (Mario Sr.), a fourth-generation craftsman, and his nephew, Mario Jr., have been making some of the world's finest handmade umbrellas.
Compared to Maglia, Mario Talarico is much smaller, producing only about 1,100 units per year. More than a decade ago, Talarico was only known in a very limited circle, until a Parisian Le Monde employee happened to take shelter in the rain, and then began to report, Talarico's umbrella gradually became popular, and was brought into the men's clothing map by the fashion circle.
Mario Talarico's wings are custom-made, with "asta intera" solid products made of wood with integrated handles and shafts. The umbrella cloth is also handmade and is made of silk and polyester. Mario Talarico has a wide selection of materials, typical of the Italian umbrella style, often used in the wing wood such as Malacca vine, ash, chestnut, hazel, bamboo, walnut, beech and oak, but also special woods such as mahogany, elm, applewood, wild cherry, dogwood, lemonwood, cedar, etc. Talarico's artisanal traces are evident and are deliberately not over-polished by the machine, so that the user can perceive the natural curves of the wood when the umbrella is opened.
Mario Talarico's umbrellas are all custom-made, and you can submit a request on the official website to buy them, and the price of the umbrella varies greatly depending on the request. Mario Talarico's entry-level product is priced at around 200 euros, which is quite good value for money at this price point; Of course, the price of a rare material is higher, such as a tortoiseshell handle, which can cost up to 7,000 euros.
