Suva Japan
As the Hermes of nail clippers, Suwada never relied on the reputation of the city of Tojoseki, but made a fortune and established himself in Sanjo City in Niigata Prefecture with a difference. Since its establishment in 1926, even if a company has been established in Hong Kong or London, each of Suwada's nail clippers is still made by 40 craftsmen in Sanjo City. Each pair of nail clippers goes through at least 50 processes and takes 3 months to create, making them a work of art. In the 70s, Suwada specialized in the manufacture of bonsai shears, and later produced kitchen utensils such as chestnut peeling scissors, and its chestnut peeling shears and nail clippers won the Best Design Award from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Between 1998 and 2017, Suwada nail clippers won the Good Design Award at the Good Design Awards six times, the only design award in Japan and the highest honor in the design industry. In 2017, the CLASSIC series of nail clippers added a gold medal in the crafts category of the East Japan Railway Specialty Awards, adding to the CLASSIC series of nail clippers a number of awards. In addition, Suwada is also very well-known in Europe and the United States, and has won the Asian Design Award twice, which is recognized as the top in the world.
