SC Johnson USA is a family-owned company with more than 100 years of history, mainly dealing in household cleaning products, personal care products and insecticide products. Rado is SC Johnson's hygienic pest control product with operations in more than 100 countries, a highly recognized brand, and a market share of more than 13% of China's hygienic insecticide products.
The cockroachicidal products in the radar sanitary pest control series include insecticidal aerosols and cockroachicidal bait. Radar insecticidal aerosol adopts a ternary formulation, that is, a compound of three pyrethroids. Among these three drugs, cypermethrin accounts for the largest proportion, cypermethrin is the second generation of pyrethroids, which adds halogens to enhance its biological activity, making pests less likely to develop resistance and more lethal.
Aerosols with pyrethroids as active ingredients such as radar need to be registered with the Ministry of Agriculture before they are marketed, and they are safe under normal use. However, safety is for people, pet cats lack the necessary metabolic pathways for pyrethroid drugs, and the use of aerosols is easy to cause poisoning, so it is not recommended to use cats at home.
Insecticidal aerosols have a broad spectrum and are used to kill other pests in addition to killing cockroaches, but they need to be used with caution in an environment where there are organisms. If the aerosol cannot be used near the water body, it is easy to kill fish and pets. There are many mosquitoes near domestic plants, but the concentration of aerosol agents is too high, which can burn the plants, so it cannot be used. Aerosols are used to kill insects on succulents, which can cause small black dots to rot and die.
The main components of aerosols are agents and solvents (propellants), which can be divided into three types: oil-based, water-based, and alcohol-based according to different solvents. The main component of water-based solvent is deionized water, which has little impact on the environment, but water-based solvent is easy to cause corrosion and leakage of the tank, and the requirements for the tank material are relatively high. Aerosols in the United States, Hong Kong and other countries and regions are basically water-based, and most of the aerosols in the Chinese mainland market are oil-based. The same is true for the radar aerosol product line, there is currently only one water-based aerosol, which is recommended.
Similar to Ansu, the radar cockroach bait is placed in a plastic box with a small opening, and the agent is not directly exposed. The advantage of box-type bait is that it is easy to place, can be moved at any time, and is also better than direct application of drugs in terms of safety, and the built-in bait is not easy to be touched by children and pets.
Radar cockroach bait uses 0.5% indoxacarb as a poisoning agent, indoxacarb is a new type of oxadiazine insecticide developed by DuPont in the United States, the insecticidal mechanism is similar to pyrethroid drugs, and also has the dual toxicity of contact killing and stomach poisoning, and the use of pests in the bait will not actively avoid, and the secondary cockroach killing effect is good. The disadvantage of its agent is that if the cockroach is a resistant species, the killing effect may be poor, and other types of cockroach bait can be replaced.
