Recommended wines: Opus One No. 1 Dry Red and Overture Overture Dry Red Wine
The Paris Trial of 1969 was an important milestone in the history of wine: before that, the wine world was dominated by European countries such as France, Italy, and Spain, and these traditional wine-producing countries were called Old World wines. In the past, the Old World was not friendly to American wines, believing them to be high in sugar, fruity and light, and did not believe that the land could produce high-quality, top-quality wines.
After the Paris trial, the wine producers of the Old World finally discovered the charm of the New World, and the world map of wine production gradually became richer. In 1870, Baron Rothschild met with Robert Montafey, the father of American wine, to discuss the combination of Old and New World wines. In 1979, Château No. 1, the result of their collaboration, was launched and the first vintage was made.
Located in the Oak Township region of Napa Valley, California, USA, Opus One currently has a total of 4 vineyards, two of which are located in the famous To Kalon Vineyard, with a total of 100 acres, of which 35 acres are contributed by Montavi Winery; The other two plots of land surround the winery, totaling about 70 acres and are named Ballestra and River. The vineyard at Opus 1 is planted with the five main varieties of Bordeaux – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Vertoux and Malbec.
As a "American-French hybrid", Château No. 1 embodies the delicacy of Bordeaux in its production operations: in order to avoid damage to the grapes caused by weight compression, the château uses a completely small-scale harvest of only 16 kilograms at a time; Once harvested, the fruits are sorted according to size, shape and color.
The Bordeaux DNA of Work No. 1 is also reflected in the style of the red wines, whose eponymous wine has the typical style of Bordeaux blends, elegantly balanced, complex and fruity, with rich aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, combined with earthy and subtle chocolate aromas, with smooth tannins of Napa Valley. Although it is the king of wine in the United States, the price of the wine in the first work is still much closer to the people than the famous wineries in Burgundy and Bordeaux, and the price is within 3500-5000 yuan in regular years, and it will exceed 5000 yuan in few years.
Like most Bordeaux estates, in addition to the main Opus One, Opus One also offers a second wine, Overture, which does not have a vintage on the label, as it is made from a blend of wines from multiple vintages. The quality of the grapes used to make the overture is inferior to the original brand, and the price is about half of the No. 1 work, the official website price is $150 a bottle, and the unit price on the Tmall platform is about 2,000 yuan.
