Margaux, the second largest sub-region of the Médoc and the warmest climate in the whole of Bordeaux on the Left Bank, is home to one Médoc and five second-class Cru. Interestingly, the study found that the village of Margaux was the first place where the ancient Romans planted grapes in Gaul.

Founded in 1590, Château Margaux is undoubtedly the most important Château de Margaux. The estate covers an area of 262 hectares, of which 82 hectares are vineyards, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Vertoux. In contrast to Château Hauberg, the proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Margaux vineyard has increased significantly compared to the past, and it is also the largest grape in Margaux, with an average Cabernet Sauvignon percentage of most vintages being 85%.

According to the quality of the raw materials and the length of maturation, the red wines of Château Margaux can be divided into three types: the main Margaux wine, the second Margaux Rouge Ting wine, and the Margaux three wines. The quality of the raw materials of the three red wines is naturally from excellent to secondary, and in terms of ageing time, the main wine is matured in new French oak barrels for 20-24 months; The Red Pavilion is matured for 18-20 months in 2/3 new French oak barrels and 1/3 old barrels; The third grade is matured for 15-16 months in 1/4 new French oak barrels and 3/4 old barrels.

Margaux is a full-bodied wine with aromas of blackcurrant, truffle and violet, and Thomas Jefferson considers this wine one of the four great Bordeaux wines. The wines are also guaranteed to be stable thanks to the virtuosity of Château Margaux, with the exception of some extremely hostile vintages, almost all of which are the best vintages of Margaux. Margaux wines are not suitable for drinking at a young age, when the aromas are closed and the tannins are tight, but it also reflects the excellent ageing potential of Margaux wines, which have the qualities expected of a top wine. If you want to taste it immediately, it is better to decant the wine 3-6 hours in advance. On the Jingdong platform, Margaux genuine wines are sold for between 4,500 and 6,000 yuan.

The second wine, called Pavillon Rouge, uses the same vinification and maturation process as the main Margaux wine, but the grapes used to make the Rouge are of second-class quality and have a relatively short maturation time. The Margaux Red Pavilion is priced at about 150 euros, and on the Jingdong platform, the price is in the range of 2,000-2,500 yuan.
