CGV is Korea's largest cinema chain with strong stores in Vietnam, Indonesia and the United States. In 2006, CGV set foot in the Chinese market and successively brought 4DX, ScreenX and other technologies into China to broaden the audience's viewing choices. CGV's brand name is taken from the initials of Cultural, Great, and Vital, which means "culture", "greatness" and "life".
Opened in 2015, the Hujiamiao store is CGV's first store in Xi'an, covering an area of more than 4,000 square meters. Its 10 cinema halls include 4DX hall, ScreenX hall, laser hall and general hall. The 4DX hall is the main feature of the cinema, and the "seat dynamic technology" developed by CJ 4DPLEX in South Korea simulates movie scenes, and is often used in science fiction, war, and action movies. When watching the movie, the seat will produce special effects such as vibration, shaking, blowing, and spraying based on the content of the film, trying to let the audience integrate into the picture scene and create a more realistic viewing experience. There is no hint before the effect is generated, and the effect is particularly intense when encountering high-altitude, action, and war scenes, so you need to be mentally prepared when watching the movie.
ScreenX is a multi-faceted projection system developed by CJ Group in South Korea, which expands the screen to both sides of the wall, so that the film can be projected on three screens with a field of view of up to 270 degrees, aiming to enhance the cinematic immersion in the theater setting. In this way, the two screens will be expanded and extended based on the central screen, and the actual effect will vary depending on the content of the film. Unfortunately, there are not many films that support ScreenX technology at the moment, and when there is a lack of film scheduling, the ScreenX Hall will be used for regular films.
The cinema hall has a good environment, moderate seat spacing and row spacing, comfortable seats, and sufficient maintenance of special hall equipment, and very few failures. The hall is a square structure, spacious pattern, designed in the style of a retro factory, with mottled bricks visible on the walls, and old-style street lamps and benches on the ground, giving it a strong atmosphere. In addition to basic functional areas such as ticketing, snacks, and rest areas, there is also an exclusive VIP lounge for cinema members, which provides convenient supplies such as power banks, umbrellas, and paper towels. In terms of ticket prices, the 4DX hall is roughly between 50-55 yuan, the ScreenX is 42-46 yuan, and the ordinary and laser hall is 38-42 yuan.
