Founded in 2008, Lumière Cinemas is a joint venture between cinema investment companies in China and Hong Kong. Its original LD Cinema (Lumière Digital) has been favored by a large number of movie fans since its launch. The name "Lumière" is derived from the French word for light, which is a tribute to the Lumière Brothers, the inventors of cinema and the cinema machine.
CapitaMall is Lumière's only cinema in Xi'an and is positioned as the flagship store in the northwest region. The cinema has a total of 6 auditoriums with a total of 1,074 seats, all of which are equipped with RealD projection technology. One of the halls is the LD Cinema Hall, the highlights of the LD Cinema Hall are similar to the Dolby Cinema Hall, integrating Dolby, RealD, Barco and other top audio and video technology companies Dolby Atmos (Dolby Atmos) system, RealD projection technology and Barco projection equipment, the sound effect is realistic and detailed, the sense of substitution is strong, the picture is bright and clear, the vision is smooth, and it is not easy to make the audience feel visual fatigue when playing 3D films. Although the Lumière LD Cinema is inferior to Dolby Cinema and IMax in terms of screen size, the viewing experience is still among the top in Xi'an.
The French Film Festival is Lumière's annual blockbuster project, co-organized with the "French Film Alliance" (UniFrance) and the French Ambassador to China, to launch a series of excellent French film screenings, which generally last for 7-10 days, and provide 1-4 screenings per day. Taking 2018 as an example, a total of seven films were released, including "Guardianship", "Pain", "The Promise of Childhood", and "Screenwriter's Workshop". In addition, the theater is a member of the National Art Film Projection Alliance, and regularly provides excellent art film screenings at home and abroad.
The cinema hall has a comfortable environment, moderate seat pitch, and the seats are all configured with leather goods, which is soft to the touch, and the waist and neck are not sore when sitting for a long time. Although some of the facilities are obviously aging, it does not affect the actual use. Unfortunately, there are few cinema halls, and there are no special theaters such as VIPs and children's halls, which are crowded during peak viewing hours such as holidays, and slow entry and evacuation affect the experience.
The entrance of the theater is stacked with several irregular marbles, and the hall is decorated with a large area of amber yellow as the main color, which is full of artistic atmosphere. The promenade leading to the ticket hall is equipped with posters for popular movies and character display boards to guide customers to watch the movie. The various partitions in the theater are more reasonable, with ticketing and snack sections lined up, and separate spaces for reading and drinking areas, with clear functions. In terms of ticket prices, LD theaters are between 30-35 yuan, and the rest of the ordinary halls are about 30 yuan, which is more cost-effective.
