Founded in 2001, it is a joint venture between Taiwan's Weijing Group and Cinemark Holdings, the second largest cinema chain in the United States, with branches scattered in Taipei, Yangzhou, Kunming, Shanghai and other places. In 2016, Shellrick entered Hanshen Plaza in the northern suburbs of Xi'an, positioning it as a flagship store in Northwest China, with a business area of nearly 7,000 square meters and an area of two floors.
The entrance to the cinema is unique, with lighting fixtures on the ceiling to create a starry sky effect, and hexagonal silver edges on the walls on both sides. The cross-structure hall separates the ticketing, snack area and rest area on the left and right sides, and is also equipped with ample lockers, ticket machines, massage chairs and self-service KTV and other facilities.
The cinema has a total of 14 theaters, with the No. 10 Dolby Atmos giant screen hall as the main feature. The giant screen hall follows the CGS Chinese giant screen technology, with Dolby Atmos system, and the configuration is similar to the giant screen hall of the Oscar Cinemas (Cityport store), which ranks sixth on the list. However, the area of the theater and the size of the screen here are on the small side, and the brightness of the picture is low when watching 3D films, and there are occasional ghosting and blurring, and the experience is relatively mediocre.
Cinemark cinemas are all small halls, except for the giant screen hall that can accommodate 243 people, the average capacity of the rest of the cinema halls is about 100 people. The seats in the hall are interspersed with dark green and orange, and the backs of the chairs can be moved with the back tilted, which is more comfortable. Halls 1-6 are located on the 5th floor of the cinema, halls 7-14 are located on the 6th floor, and there is only one escalator between the two floors for shuttle, which is prone to crowding when there are many people. The ticket price of the giant screen hall is roughly 32-36 yuan, and the ordinary hall is 27-30 yuan, which supports changes one hour before the opening and does not support refunds.
