Hotel ICON - The Market - Merchant Reviews

The quality of the food is good, and the equally rich buffet restaurant The Market is a close second, and compared to Promenade, The Market may not have a panoramic view of the harbour. However, when it comes to providing rich buffet ingredients, The Market, located on the second floor of Hotel ICON, is no slouch.

As one of Hong Kong's most famous and popular restaurants, The Market is notoriously difficult to book, with almost all times sold out. This is thanks to the wide range of international cuisine, from specialty snacks to laksa to roast beef, so there's something for everyone. Walking into the restaurant, in addition to the centralized furnishing area with reasonable design, the open kitchen is also a highlight of the restaurant. During the meal, chefs will be in their respective areas to cut or grill dishes on the spot, showing their busyness but enthusiasm, echoing the bustling situation of the restaurant, creating a lively and relaxed atmosphere of a family-style meal.

The first thing that catches your eye when you are seated by the ushers is the dessert section, where a wide variety of desserts have already caught the eye. Champagne is included with the meal, which can also be exchanged for a regular drink. The Japanese food section, which specializes in sushi and sashimi, has always been popular, and there is a steady stream of fresh raw cut fish fillets. In the cooked food area, there are various types of frozen seafood such as shrimp, long crab legs, Dongfeng snails, scallops, etc., and Oriental delicacies include shrimp dumplings, siu mai, steamed noodles, Hainanese chicken rice, stewed soup and instant boiled noodle stalls.

The hot meat section has the most abundant selection, with classic delicatessen such as roasted pigeon, steamed sea grouper, curry fish, pan-fried foie gras, and home-cooked coconut chicken stew. Southeast Asian dishes include Northern Thai barbecued sausages, Indian kebabs, herb eggplant meatballs, Indian curry samos, mapo tofu, sweet and sour fried wonton, etc., which are served in a regular weekly format. The takoyaki, roast rib eye grill, and roast lamb rack in the roast area are all fired on site, and diners need to queue up in an orderly manner to receive them. The dessert section of The Market focuses on the durian series, with durian coffee rolls, durian cheesecakes, pancake durian mille-feuille cakes, durian tart, and fried Musang King durian meat, which are worth a try for durian lovers.

However, due to the large number of diners in the restaurant, and the seating room adheres to the habit of Hong Kong people to make the most of every inch of area, it is inevitable that there will be a little crowding and clutter during the peak period when the restaurant is just opened. It is inevitable that many people will eat it, which will lead to messy placement in the dish area and affect the appearance. Diners are advised to maintain an orderly order to pick up their meals, wait patiently, refrain from making loud noises, and seek advice and assistance from waiters if necessary.

Located on Science Museum Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hotel ICON is close to the Harbour Tunnel, where the roads are interspersed with complex traffic and visitors can plan their routes in advance. Just a short walk from the hotel, Canton Road is a popular fashion district with designer boutiques and more than 700 shops, so visitors can take a leisurely stroll after a meal. In addition to the indoor dining hall, there is also an outdoor terrace dining area, which is a little further away from the food station, but it is also elegant to dine on the terrace in good weather conditions. The restaurant also has a plus service charge, and the waiters are a little busy but responsive when the number of diners is large, and the mobility is strong. Due to the popularity of the restaurant, it is recommended to reserve a seat on the official website or by calling openrice three days in advance. In addition to cash, you can also choose from Visa, Master, AE or UnionPay at checkout.
