Onitsuka Tiger is a casual retro sneaker brand owned by ASICS, but unlike ASICS Tiger, it is an independent brand, and it appeared earlier than ASICS. Onitsuka Tiger is defined as a retro-trended casual shoe with more popular elements added to the premise of practicality. So far, none of Onitsuka's shoe shapes contain ASICS' most famous GEL cushioned sole technology. Onitsuka Tiger's shoes are very comfortable to wear on the feet, but the wear resistance of the soles is relatively poor. Nike's classic Cortez Forrest Gump shoes are none other than the Corsair that "learned" from Devil's Tiger, and this Corsair is also one of Bruce Lee's favorite shoes.
 
In 1990, ASICS launched the Gel Lyte line of running shoes, which is what is today ASICS Tiger. The style of ASICS Tiger is different from that of Ghost Tsuka Tiger, although they are both athleisure shoes, Asics Tiger is more Westernized, focusing on American street trend elements and taking the retro fashion route.
