Founded in 1997 with the aim of reviving the handicraft industry, Higashiya is more akin to a collection of handmade goods throughout Japan, unlike Hyozaemon, Ichishuang, and Eimei, which specialize in making chopsticks. The East House is home to handmade products from 19 regions, including Iwate Prefecture, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka Prefectures, and the wooden chopsticks come from Wajima, which is famous for its lacquer craftsmanship.
The Higashiya chopsticks are made of three completely different precious woods, red sandalwood, ebony and iron knife wood, and the beauty of the grain of the wood itself is maintained as much as possible in an unpainted way. Rosewood has staggered textures, uniform structures, and often has a spicy aroma, which is extremely precious in the international timber market, and ebony and iron knife wood are also rare high-quality raw materials. Higashiya wooden chopsticks are made of precious materials, cut and polished using Wajima's traditional craftsmanship, and present unpainted wooden chopsticks with a similar lacquered effect. The price range of red sandalwood, ebony, iron knife and wooden chopsticks is between 190 and 150 yuan.
It should be noted that uncoated wooden chopsticks will be lacking in moisture-proof, insect-proof, and deformation-proof, and should not be machine washed or sterilized at high temperature.
