Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the "Company" or "Chery") was established on January 8, 1997. Since its establishment 20 years ago, the company has always adhered to independent innovation, gradually established a complete technology and product research and development system, and exported its products to more than 80 countries and regions overseas, creating well-known product brands such as Arrizo, Tiggo, QQ and Fengyun. At the same time, its two joint ventures have brands such as Qoros, Jaguar and Land Rover. Up to now, the company's cumulative sales have exceeded 6 million units, becoming the first Chinese passenger car brand automobile company with passenger car sales exceeding 6 million units, of which the cumulative export volume has exceeded 1.25 million units, maintaining the first place in China's passenger car exports for 14 consecutive years.
The company has 14 production bases in Wuhu, Dalian, Ordos, Changshu and Brazil, Iran, Venezuela, Russia and other countries, with existing assets of 79.2 billion yuan, 16,721 employees, and more than 5,000 professional R&D personnel, including more than 1,200 high-level talents such as doctors, masters, and overseas returnees. More than 300 well-known foreign experts and management personnel have been introduced; 16 people from the "Thousand Talents Program" of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee; 7 people with "Special Allowance of the State Council"; 2 experts of the "National Friendship Award"; and a number of winners of the "Huangshan Friendship Award", "Hundred Talents Program" and "Hundred Talents Program" in Anhui Province.
"Independent innovation" is the core of Chery's development strategy. From the beginning of its establishment, Chery has adhered to independent innovation and strived to become a technology-based enterprise. On the basis of the V-shaped forward development system, Chery has built a "big R&D" pattern with Chery Shanghai Technical Center (CTCS) as the engine, Wuhu Automotive Engineering R&D Institute as the core, and integrated Qoros and Chery Jaguar Land Rover's R&D talents and processes to form a relatively complete product R&D system from the development of vehicles, powertrains, and key components to trial production and testing. Through independent innovation, Chery has made breakthroughs in core technologies such as DVVT dual variable valve timing technology, TGDI turbocharged in-cylinder direct injection technology, CVT continuously variable transmission, new energy and intelligent technology, which has led to the comprehensive technological upgrade of all products. By the end of 2016, Chery had applied for 14,316 patents and authorized 9,155 patents.
Building a "world-class brand" is Chery's strategic development goal. Driven by the development concept of "no internal stability, no external strength", Chery has focused on developing both international and domestic markets since its establishment, actively implemented the "going out" strategy, and became the first car company in China to export vehicles, CKD parts, engines, and vehicle manufacturing technology and equipment to foreign countries. Today's Chery has deepened its global layout and accelerated the upgrading and transformation from "going out" of products, "going in" of technology and factories to "going up" of brands. Through the implementation of product strategy, localization strategy and talent strategy, we will continue to deepen in-depth cooperation in overseas markets, and strive to build Chery Automobile into an international brand with global influence. In the "Top 20 Overseas Image of Chinese Enterprises" under the guidance of the Information Office of the State Council of China and sponsored by CIPG, Chery Automobile won the honorary title of "Best Overseas Image Enterprise" in China for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016, and ranked first in the equipment manufacturing industry.
Since its establishment, Chery has taken "ingenuity to build an excellent brand" as its corporate vision, firmly established the concept of green development for all employees, put independent innovation, green development and low-carbon development in the first place in all work, and vigorously built a green culture of green procurement, green design, green production and green consumption in strict accordance with the requirements of environmental laws and regulations and international conventions in the life cycle of the whole industrial chain. Since 2016, Chery has entered the stage of strategic transformation 2.0, and the new Chery "2.0 product family" has been launched one after another. Chery launched three new cars, Arrizo 5, Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 3X, which demonstrated the product power and brand power of Chery's strategy 2.0 era from multiple angles and in an all-round way, and drove the rapid increase in market sales. In 2016, Chery (Group) sold 705,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 28%, of which 88,081 units were exported, accounting for 28% of the total exports of Chinese brand passenger cars.
2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Chery Automobile's founding.
