Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd
In April 2001, Ford Motor Company, the world's leading automobile company, and Changan Automobile Group, a century-old enterprise in China, jointly signed a contract to establish Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Ford), which was officially put into production in early 2003. In March 2006, Mazda Motor Co., Ltd. took a stake in Changan Ford, and the company officially changed its name to Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Ford Mazda), with the three parties holding 50% of Changan, Ford 35% and Mazda 15%. On November 30, 2012, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. was officially separated into two joint ventures, Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd. and Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Ford), the surviving company in Chongqing, holds 50% of Changan and 50% of Ford, and is responsible for all Ford-related businesses of Changan Ford Mazda, including the development, manufacturing, sales and service of the Ford brand. Since its establishment more than ten years ago, Changan Ford has grown into a large-scale modern automobile enterprise with cross-regional and multi-brand production and operation capabilities.
At present, Changan Ford has one engine plant, one transmission plant and five vehicle plants, including two vehicle plants in Hangzhou and Harbin, and Chongqing has become Ford's largest production base after Detroit.
