Founded in France in 1862, Bacardi Wine Trading Co., Ltd., Otard Gouda, is a world-famous brandy brand, specializing in the production of high-end cognac, and is a world-renowned private spirits company

With a history of more than 200 years, Otard is not only one of the world's top five cognac brands, but also specializes in high-end cognacs. 80% of Otard's cognacs are VSOP or higher. And the unique brewing environment of its century-old castle ensures the same quality of this ancient brand. At the 2002 World Wine & Spirits Competition, Otard won the Gold Medal against a crowd of competitors. In June 2003, at the G8 summit held in Evian, France, French President Jacques Chirac ceremoniously presented Gouda cognac as the most French essence gift to the heads of state attending the meeting. Today, the Château de Cognac in Gouda has become an important tourist attraction in Konyak, with 10,000 visitors visiting the castle every year to taste the wines.

The founder of the brand is Baron Shangyi Baibdis, who has had an extraordinary life. He was the eldest grandson of James Otard (who fought alongside Louis XIV and was made a baronial in 1701) and was born in 1763 in Cognac, France. In 1795, Baron Gouda produced his first bottle of cognac. The following year he bought the only château in the heart of Cognac, France. The Château is located next to the Charenthai River, with its thick stone walls and warm, humid cellars, which are kept at a constant temperature all year round, making the perfect conditions for the production of excellent cognacs. In 1804, Baron Gouda was elected Grand Governor of Cognac, France. In 1820 and 1824 he was twice elected to the Charente department.

Gouda Cognac has been highly regarded in various competitions on the international market, winning gold medals at the IWSC International Wine and Spirit Competition in 1997, 1999 and 2002; In 2005, it was also named the best cognac by the IWSC; In 2009, it won the double championship of the blind test of seven cognacs in the domestic wine news magazine.

Gouda Cognac exclusively selects grapes from the four best appellations of the Cognac region, aged in the cellars of the castle, where the wide stone walls of the castle create an excellent winemaking environment with constant temperature and humidity.

Gouda is currently one of the brands operated by Bacardi Corporation. The Bacardi Company was founded by Facundo Bacardi on February 4, 1862 in Santiago, Cuba, and is now headquartered in Bermuda.
