GODIVA brand introduction

Godiva logo

Godiva (Shanghai) Food Trading Co., Ltd., the world's top ten chocolate brands, began in Belgium in 1926, the world's famous exquisite handmade chocolate brand, known as the Rolls-Royce of chocolate

In 1926, Mr. Drap, a master chocolatier in Brussels, Belgium, wanted to start his own business. He decided to quit his job and open his own chocolate company in the basement of his home. The whole family is involved in the making process, and the four children: Joseph, Pierre, Francoise and Yvonne help their parents make, finish, package and ship their noble chocolates.

Continuing the legend

Unfortunately, in 1937, a few months after Mr. Draps' death, Mrs. Draps also left, bringing the Draps family to a halt. Although the children are still very young, they are burdened with maintaining the family business. Each child brings his or her expertise to the family business. Joseph is good at getting to know his guests; Pierre is full of creativity and is always creating new chocolates; Francoise is in charge of creamy marzipan syrup and delicious jellies; Yvonne has a cute sense of image, using paper and ribbon to design beautiful packaging for chocolate.

Inspiration

The Draps family continues to be hands-on in everything that comes into business, and many of today's popular flavors and cherished traditions are the result of the Draps family's creations. Pierre and Joseph Draps create never-before-seen pralines to mark major events in Brussels and around the world. Pierre created the Fabiola (milk chocolate sauce) for King Baudewijn of Belgium and his bride, Queen Fabiola. Inspired by the feathers on the heroine's Scarlett's hat, he designed the Autant (Maple Coffee Chocolate) to celebrate the Belgian premiere of the film Gone with the Wind.

Following the opening of its first boutique in the United States in 1966, Godiva continued to expand its reach around the world, becoming one of the world's leading chocolate brands. Today, Godiva chocolate is represented in more than 450 stores worldwide. Chocolate lovers can also shop for Godiva products in major department stores and specialty stores.

It's no surprise that Godiva Chocolatier, Inc., the creator of the world's finest artisanal chocolates, originated in Brussels, Belgium. Since ancient times, Belgium has preserved a tradition of perfection that has been passed down from generation to generation, from the paintings and Gothic architecture of the famous painter Rubens, to the intricate handmade lace, dazzling crystals and delicious delicacies that will make you want to try them.

In order to continue this tradition, the Draps family brought Godiva chocolate to Belgium in 1926. Later, Joseph Draps opened his first chocolate shop on a pebble-paved street in Grande Place, with the name "Godiva" as his family's chocolate name. Joseph Draps has refined the secret recipe for brewing rich chocolate to create a unique and smooth texture. With a keen sense of observation, Joseph Draps set the specifications for the delicate continental shell-shaped design and ingenious packaging of Godiva's innovative collection.

Over the years, Godiva has been meticulous in complying with traditional specifications and implementing Joseph Draps' secret recipes. True to the tradition and spirit of Joseph Draps, Godiva chocolate is the best of the best in the world of sweets. Godiva's dedication to quality is also unscathed, with a continental-style gold gift box and hand-decorated packaging, which is instantly recognizable, and the ingenuity of the design has earned Godiva a reputation from all walks of life.

Since entering the U.S. market in 1966, Godiva has been a leader in the world of premium sweets. Godiva has more than 200 specialty stores in major U.S. cities and more than 1,000 retail locations in high-end department stores and specialty stores.
