Nestlelogo

Nestle (China) Co., Ltd., founded in Switzerland in 1867, started with baby cereal products, a successful operator in the global consumer packaged food and beverage industry, a Fortune 500 company, and acquired Wyeth Nutrition in 2012

The origins of Nestlé can be traced back to Switzerland in 1866.

In 1867, Swiss chemist Henri Nestlé was the first to invent the world's first baby food, milk cereal. One day, a friend who was a doctor brought in a baby who was born a month prematurely. He couldn't eat, his body was so weak that he was abandoned. Henri Nestlé took the child in and fed him milk cereals of his own development. The little life was saved. The good news quickly spread in the local area and was known to mothers, midwives and doctors. Later, Nestlé's "miracle products" spread around the world and became very popular, becoming a high-quality food to help children grow up healthy and lead them to a better life.

Henri Nestlé is a German and "Nestlé" means "little bird's nest" in German. Until now, all of Nestlé's products still use this name as a company logo.

Nestle in China

Headquartered in Switzerland, Nestlé is the world's largest food company with a long history in China. Chinese consumers have been familiar with and trusted the Nestlé brand for a century, as early as 1908, when Nestlé opened its first sales office in Shanghai. Nestlé was one of the first foreign companies to enter China and has a strong commitment to China. In the early 80s, Nestlé began to negotiate with the Chinese government to invest in a factory in China and transfer its world-class know-how and expertise in nutrition and food processing to China. In 1990, Nestlé began operations at its first joint venture plant in Chinese mainland, followed by several more factories. Nestlé has helped China save a lot of foreign exchange in this area by substituting imports by using local raw materials to make the same high-quality food locally. Ninety-eight percent of the products sold by Nestlé in Chinese mainland are now made locally.
