Chrysler (Hong Kong translation: Christinah) is a famous American automobile company and one of the three major automobile companies in the United States. The company was founded by Walter Chrysler, who was born in 1875 in Iowa to a family of railroad mechanics.
Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Chrysler owns the three major automotive brands Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge, as well as the parts brand Mopar, which includes passenger cars, pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles. Outside North America, Chrysler sold a record 2007 (238,218 vehicles), up 15 percent from 2006. This also set another record for Chrysler: 31 consecutive months of year-on-year sales growth. In all regions outside North America, Chrysler increased sales in 2007: the Middle East/North Africa (21,171 units) saw the highest increase of 64 percent; Latin America sales (45,199 units) increased by 22%; Eastern Europe sales (12,775 units) increased by 30%; Asia-Pacific sales (33,715 units) increased by 22%; Sales in Western and Central Europe (117,675 units) increased by 6 percent. It accounts for about half of Chrysler's international sales.
