The challenges of the past have created a strong and distinctive quality and personality of the company.

In addition to its impressive racing achievements and the development of road cars, Maserati is also committed to the development of the company. In 1940, Maserati moved from Bologna to Ciro Minotti in Modena, an important step in the development of Maserati business.

Maserati's pride is reflected in the values of excellence that underlie the brand. Next, you'll delve into the storied history of Maserati and learn about the icons, achievements and key models that have shaped the brand's reputation.

Legendary Trident

The Trident is the embodiment of this legend. All racing cars in Maserati's history are stamped with the Trident logo. The logo bears witness to Maserati's history of style change, technological innovation and performance.

The statue of the god of the sea, which has stood in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna since the 16th century, is an important symbol in the history of Maserati. The Trident logo is inspired by the Fountain of Neptune, a common symbol of Bologna and Maserati.

Around 1920, Maserati decided to design a brand identity to give the new car an outstanding image. This was ultimately entrusted to Mario Maserati. He is the only Maserati brother who is not obsessed with cars and is also a talented artist. Mario was inspired by the statue of Neptune, the god of the sea, in Piazza Maggiore, and the trident in the hands of the sea god symbolizes strength and vitality. The red and blue colour scheme in the brand logo is derived from the colours of the flag of Bologna, the city of Maserati at the time.

Today, the Trident has long been integrated with Maserati, symbolizing the unique character of Maserati cars and highlighting Maserati's elegance, luxury and performance.
