Wal-Mart Department Stores, Inc. was founded in Arkansas in 1962 by Mr. Sam Walton, a legend in the American retail industry. At present, Walmart operates a variety of formats and brands in China, including shopping malls and Sam's Club. As of December 31, 2015, Walmart had opened 433 stores, 9 dry warehouse distribution centers[2] and 11 fresh food distribution centers in 169 cities in 19 provinces, 2 autonomous regions, and 4 municipalities across the country[3].

From 2015 to 2017, Walmart will increase its investment in different businesses in the Chinese market, and plans to add 115 new stores, including hypermarkets and Sam's Club, which is expected to create more than 30,000 jobs. Sam's Club

Sam's Club is a high-end membership store owned by Wal-Mart, a Fortune 500 company, named after the legendary figure in the retail industry, Mr. Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart. Sam's has been around for more than 30 years since its first store opened in Midwest City, Oklahoma, USA, in April 1983. In the early 90s, Sam's began to enter the international market, and today it has become one of the largest membership stores in the world. Today, Sam's has more than 800 stores around the world, providing a premium shopping experience for more than 50 million individual and business members. The first Sam's Club in China opened in Shenzhen on August 12, 1996. Currently, Sam's has opened 12 stores in China, located in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Dalian, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuhan and Changzhou. In the future, Sam's Club will continue to expand its investment in China, so that more Chinese families can enjoy the quality of life brought by Sam's.
