Swiss Coop Group, a Fortune 500 company, a Swiss retail giant, is a leading Swiss business group, mainly engaged in supermarkets, department stores and shopping malls, mostly located in the center of large cities

Coop is a brand of the Swiss COOP GROUP.

Headquartered in Basel, the Coop Group is a Swiss retail giant, the second largest business group in Switzerland, composed of 15 regional cooperatives, and currently has 1,700 retail outlets across Switzerland, mainly supermarkets, department stores and shopping malls, mostly located in the center of large cities.

In addition to supermarkets and department stores, the Coop Group also operates a variety of specialty stores such as drugstores, household appliances, furniture decorations, lighting fixtures, and even petrol stations and convenience stores.

In addition to its own bank, insurance company and restaurant, the Coop Group also owns Interdiscount Home Appliances, Toptip Home Furnishing & Decorator, Lumimart Lighting and a three-star hotel in Basel. The best thing about Coop is its close association with the well-known Betty Bossi brand in the culinary world, with a weekly cooking show on TV. On the middle page of Coop's weekly magazine, each issue includes a recipe by Betty Bossi.

In 2006, Coop's Supercard was celebrated on its fifth anniversary, and a number of special promotions were introduced. When you swipe the Supercard when you spend, you can also accumulate points. When the points accumulate to a certain level, they can be exchanged for the corresponding prizes. Like the M-Cumulus card, the Supercard can be used as an add-on card, and a family can share the same points account.

In 2006, the COOP Group generated a turnover of 14.7 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 4.6 per cent over 2005, of which the retail turnover of traditional supermarkets amounted to 9.8 billion Swiss francs, an increase of 3.3 per cent over 2005. In the price war, the COOP Group reduced the prices of more than 700 items with a total value of 270 million Swiss francs. There were 362 million transactions throughout the year, with an average of 1 million transactions per day and an average volume of 33 Swiss francs per transaction. At the end of 2006, COOP Group had 1,546 retail outlets (1,437 at the end of 2005), with an operating area of 1.52 million square meters, an increase of 2.5% over 2005.
