Central University of Finance and Economics, founded in Beijing in 1949, is a key university of the 211 Project/985 Project, and a research university with economics/management/law disciplines as the mainstay/multidisciplinary coordinated development

The Central University of Finance and Economics is a key university under the national "211 Project" directly under the Ministry of Education and the first batch of pilot universities of the national "Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform" project.

The school was founded on November 6, 1949, at the beginning of the establishment of the Ministry of Finance in charge, through the Central Taxation School, the Central School of Finance, the Central School of Finance and Economics, the Central Institute of Finance and Economics and other development stages, in 1996 changed its name to the Central University of Finance and Economics, in 2000, the school was transferred by the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Education directly under the management, in 2005 into the national "211 Project" key construction universities, in 2006 became the national "985 Project" advantage discipline innovation platform of the first batch of construction universities. For a long time, the school has adhered to the school motto of "loyalty, unity, truth-seeking, and innovation", inherited the school-running philosophy of "seeking truth and truth, and pursuing excellence", formed a distinctive school-running characteristics, and cultivated more than 100,000 high-quality talents at all levels for the country's economic construction and social development, and was known as the "cradle of China's financial management experts".

The school covers a total area of 1027165 square meters, of which the South College Road Campus covers an area of 141962 square meters and the Shahe Campus covers an area of 789798 square meters.

As of September 2016, there are 1,759 faculty members in the university, including 1,176 full-time teachers. There are 283 professors, accounting for 24.06% of the total number of full-time teachers, and 441 associate professors, accounting for 37.50% of the total number of full-time teachers. There are 832 doctoral degree holders, accounting for 70.75% of the total number of full-time teachers. The university has 14,965 full-time students, including 10,060 undergraduates, 4,013 master's students, 655 doctoral students, and 237 international students.

The school has formed a discipline system with economics, management and law as the main body, and the coordinated development of literature, philosophy, science, engineering, education, art and other disciplines. The university has 50 undergraduate majors, has the right to set up undergraduate majors in economics and management, and has 8 national characteristic major construction sites and 7 Beijing characteristic major construction sites. It has the first-level discipline of applied economics, the national key discipline and the second-level discipline of accounting, and the national key discipline; It has the first-level discipline of business administration, the first-level discipline of statistics, the second-level discipline of political economy, the second-level discipline of Marxism in China, the second-level discipline of world economy, the interdisciplinary discipline of economic information management, and the management of multinational companies. It has 13 professional degree authorization points such as Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Accounting and Master of Law, including three professional degrees in business administration, accounting, and law, which were approved by the Ministry of Education in 2010. The Secretariat of the Steering Committee for Degree Research and Education in Asset Valuation is located in our university; It has 17 national quality courses and Beijing municipal quality courses, 6 national open video courses, and 2 national quality resource sharing courses; He has won 6 National Teaching Achievement Awards and 30 Beijing Teaching Achievement Awards. It has 5 postdoctoral research stations, including applied economics, theoretical economics, business administration, Marxist theory, and statistics; It has one of the first five pilot projects of the national "Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform", "Economics and Public Policy Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform"; It has the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, the China Academy of Actuarial Science, the first batch of Beijing philosophy and social science research bases, and the Beijing Finance and Economics Research Base.  

For a long time, the school attaches great importance to the construction of teachers. Among the older generation of teachers, famous economists and scholars such as Chen Daisun, Cui Jingbo, Cui Shuxiang, Li Baoguang, Liu Guangdi, Hu Zhongliu, Li Tianmin, Zhang Yuwen, Wen Qian, Jiang Weizhuang, Wei Zhenxiong, Wang Peizhen, Hou Ronghua, and Li Jixiong have successively taught at the university, and some of them are still active in the front line of teaching and scientific research. 42 people in the school have become experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. Among the young and middle-aged backbone teachers, the school has 2 winners of the "Thousand Talents Program", 7 Changjiang Scholars, 2 National Famous Teachers, 4 National Candidates for the "New Century Millions of Talents Project", members of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, and "Outstanding Supporting Talents in the New Century" of the Ministry of Education. The university is one of the first humanities and social sciences universities to implement the "Changjiang Scholars Award Program". The school has 3 national teaching teams and 7 excellent teaching teams in Beijing. In recent years, the university has focused on introducing a large number of overseas talents on a global platform, and has hired a number of famous scholars at home and abroad as school leaders and academic leaders, such as Nobel laureates in economics Lawrence Klein, Joseph Stiglitz, Robert Engel, Eric Maskin, Roger Myerson, etc., as academic committee members, honorary professors, visiting professors and adjunct professors to teach students.

As an important scientific research and innovation base in the fields of economics and management in China, the university gives full play to the role of a "think tank" and "think tank" for the decision-making of national ministries and local governments, and provides a strong theoretical guarantee and strong intellectual support for the country's economic construction and social development. Since the 11th Five-Year Plan, the university has undertaken 440 major scientific research projects such as the National Social Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of China, and the major humanities and social sciences research projects of the Ministry of Education. The various forums and high-level international seminars held by the school have had a great impact at home and abroad.

In the new century, according to the new situation of building an innovative country for top-notch innovative talents, the school pays attention to the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and practical ability, explores new models of talent training, sets up a pilot area for talent training mode, and strives to cultivate innovative talents with an international perspective, and has achieved good results. In 2006 and 2007, the university successively became the first batch of universities in the "National College Student Cultural Quality Education Base" and the "National College Student Innovative Experimental Program" of the Ministry of Education. In 2010, the university became a national "Pilot Reform of the Training Model for Innovative Talents in Financial and Economic Applications" and a "Pilot University for the Comprehensive Reform of Professional Degree Graduate Education" of the Ministry of Education.

With the rapid advancement of economic globalization, the university has implemented the internationalization strategy, vigorously carried out multi-form and multi-level international exchanges and cooperation, and has established close cooperative relations with 126 units such as universities, government agencies, international organizations and multinational enterprises on five continents in the world. Since 2006, the school has been commissioned by the central government to train 730 senior government officials from 91 developing countries, which has been widely acclaimed. The university is one of the first 46 universities in the "National Construction of High-level University Public Postgraduate Program". In 2005 and 2007, the university successively became a school accepting foreign students in China and a university accepting Chinese government scholarship for international students in China.
