With the mission of "cultivating outstanding financial talents and serving economic and social development", Dongbei University of Finance and Economics is a university of finance and economics that highlights the advantages and characteristics of economics and management, and coordinates the development of economics, management, law, literature, science and other disciplines. The university is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian, with a total area of 650,204.9 square meters and more than 18,000 full-time students, including 10,302 full-time undergraduates and 6,106 graduate students. Dongbei University of Finance and Economics adheres to the discipline-leading strategy and is a key university in Liaoning Province. The university has 3 national key disciplines of finance, industrial economics and accounting, 1 national key (cultivation) discipline of quantitative economics, 4 first-level disciplines of applied economics, statistics, business administration and public administration have been selected as the key construction projects of first-class disciplines in Liaoning Province, and 6 first-level disciplines have been selected as first-class characteristic discipline projects in Liaoning Province. The university has a comprehensive and well-structured graduate education system focusing on economics and management, covering seven disciplines: philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science and management. There are 6 first-level discipline doctoral degree programs and 40 second-level discipline doctoral programs in theoretical economics, applied economics, statistics, management science and engineering, business administration, and public administration. Dongbei University of Finance and Economics began international exchanges as early as the 80s of the 20th century, launched Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools in 1994, and gradually formed the idea of "high standards and internationalization". The university has one Sino-foreign cooperative school, Surrey International College, which provides full-time undergraduate and graduate education without going abroad. The two double degree programs of business administration and tourism management have been accredited by the world's most influential American AACSB institution.
