7. New site project

The new CCTV site is located in the middle of the East Third Ring Road (formerly the "Beiqi Motorcycle Factory") in Chaoyang District, Beijing, close to the East Third Ring Road, in the core area of the CBD, covering an area of 197,000 square meters. The total construction area is about 550,000 square meters, the highest building is 234 meters, and the total investment of the project is about 5 billion yuan. The construction content mainly includes: the main building (CCTV), the television cultural center (TVCC), the service building and the media park. After the completion of the project, CCTV will have the ability to broadcast 200 program channels.

The project was officially approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (formerly the State Planning Commission) in January 2002. After expert review and staff voting, the design scheme of Metropolitan Design Office (designer: Koolhaas) was selected. In September 2004, the feasibility study report of the project was officially approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and approved by the 62nd executive meeting of the State Council, and the construction officially started in October 2004. Under the organization of the Beijing Municipal Bidding Office, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) obtained the general contracting right for the construction of Section A of the new site construction project, including the main building, through public bidding. Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd. obtained the general contracting right for the construction of Lot B (TV Cultural Center) of the new site construction project. At present, the construction work of bid sections A and B is progressing as planned, and the work is progressing smoothly.
