In many cities in China, Paulaner Bräuhaus, the No. 1 chain brand of German cuisine, is a benchmark for German restaurants. Although Xi'an does not have an authorized store in Prana, it does have its sister brand Hacker-Pschorr.
The predecessor of the brand was Hacker Beer, which was founded in 1417. In 1793, Maria Theresa Hacker, the successor to the Hacker brand, married the brewer Joseph Pschorr, and the Hacker brand was officially renamed "Hacker-Pschorr". Under the careful management of the couple, the company developed into one of the six major brands in the beer industry in Munich. In 1979, Hebais was acquired by the beer giant Plana Group and officially became its subordinate brand.
Compared with Paulana Bräuhaus, the company has not been in China for a long time, and only opened its first branch in Beijing in 2014. The two brands are also developing in different directions in China. Most of the stores of Pranay Restaurant are located in Kempinski hotels, and the hotel guests are the main customers of the restaurant, while the few stores that have been opened by Hebaishi are located in high-end neighborhoods where foreigners and modern white-collar workers live, and the main customers are more stable.
Although the customer base is different, the dishes of Hebaishi are the same as those of Prana, and the German sausage and roast pork knuckle are the treasures of the restaurant. The signature Bavarian sausage platter includes pork sausages, Thuringian sausages, Frankfurters, Nuremberg sausages, and cheese sausages. Thuringian sausage pork liver has a strong flavor with spice notes; Frankfurter sausage has a tight texture and a delicate taste; Nuremberg sausages are rough and grainy in the mouth; Cheese sausage has a firm taste with a milky flavor. Several sausages have different textures and flavors, so order one and you'll be able to taste them all. Roasted pork knuckle is made in the classic Bavarian way, lightly marinated and then grilled over medium heat, followed by a high heat until the skin is golden brown and crispy. The pork knuckle is freshly served with an attractive color and crispy mouth, and the German sauerkraut can also be used to relieve greasyness.
Herbais started with beer, and when you come here, beer is naturally a must-order. The three home-brewed beers, Golden Cellar, Amber Wheat and Golden Wheat, are brewed by resident German brewer Benjamin using the traditional Hacker technique. The Golden Cellar is one of the best-selling products in Germany, with a bright colour, smooth malt taste and a hint of hops. Amber wheat has a brown aroma with a mellow taste and a strong malt aroma. Golden wheat is rich in hops, with a hint of bitterness after a light fruity front.
Located on the 1st floor of Marriott Executive Residences, the restaurant has a retro interior with a traditional German village feel. There are many brewing facilities in the dining area, and some seats are very crowded. The service staff are uniformly dressed in German waitress costumes, enthusiastic and meticulous, and customers' questions will be answered patiently. Every Monday to Saturday after 8 p.m., there will be a band in the restaurant to make the atmosphere even more lively.
