TWG Tea - Merchant Reviews

In Singapore, which does not produce tea and does not have a long history of tea culture, the tea brand "TWG Tea" was born all over the world. At the beginning of its establishment, TWG was determined to be the "LV of the tea industry", and it took less than 10 years to successfully enter 29 countries around the world, opening stores in top shopping malls in New York, London, Tokyo, Munich, Hong Kong, Shanghai and other big cities. The "1837" that is always seen on the storefront and brand packaging is actually meant to commemorate the year when the official trade of tea officially began in Singapore.

Unlike other restaurants that offer afternoon tea, where everything can be played is on the tea points, TWG's Afternoon Tea shifts the highlight to the tea variety. One of the founders, Taha, is a French tea expert who has traveled to major tea plantations on all continents in order to make the most satisfying tea. There are thousands of kinds of tea leaves in TWG, whether it is a high-end single tea or a creative cake tea, almost all of them are made by tea blenders, tea tasters and tea makers of top established European manufacturers. When many customers arrive at the store, they will always have some difficulty in choosing a dazzling array of teas, and TWG's waiters will patiently introduce each customer to let them understand the taste of different types of tea.

TWG offers 4 different afternoon tea sets, 1837, CHIC, FORTUNE and MANHATTAN, with the main difference being the number of refreshments served. Except for the MANHATTAN course, which is a two-person course, the other three types of courses are all single-person courses. Since it is a shop in the name of tea, tea is also inseparable from tea. In addition to traditional cakes such as scones and muffins, small desserts such as jelly and macarons are made from tea. In addition to being able to drink the world's best tea, you can also taste desserts made with tea, which is rare in Hong Kong. Compared with afternoon tea in five-star hotels or high-end restaurants, TWG takes the high-end brand route, but the price is very affordable. The 1837 single package is only HK$158 and the two-person set menu is HK$268. If you are not interested in the tea in the package, you can also make up the difference of 85 Hong Kong dollars separately and choose other favorite teas.

TWG's Afternoon Tea is served from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. If you arrive too early or too late, TWG also offers other regular meals. However, there is a common problem with the afternoon tea opened in the shopping mall, that is, it is semi-open and private enough, and the ritual sense of afternoon tea cannot be forced in front of the crowds of tourists.
