IPPOH tempura restaurant/Yibao-Merchant Reviews

Ippo is a tempura specialty restaurant that specializes in Japanese cuisine with a focus on tempura. Located in Osaka, Japan, Ichiho Honten has been in business for more than 100 years, and although it is not as famous as the "god of tempura" Saotome Tetsuya, it is still unique in Japan. Opened in July 2014, there are very few Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong that specialize in tempura, so Ippo is a special Japanese experience.

Tempura is widely used in Japanese cuisine, and it can be used both in everyday meals and on important occasions such as banquets. The ingredients of Yibao are purchased in the morning and delivered to the Hong Kong store in the evening. Ippo's tempura is not only fried shrimp, but also seafood, vegetables, and fruits are the main ingredients for fried tempura. A high-quality tempura can preserve the original flavor of the food to the greatest extent, and the original color of the ingredients is faintly visible, adding an oily aroma and crispy texture to the original flavor of the ingredients. In addition to frying, cooking techniques such as steaming and grilling can also be incorporated. The production of tempura requires the chef to adjust the corresponding processing method, the degree of slurry, the oil temperature and the time of control according to the characteristics of different ingredients. Ippo tempura is not only fresh, but also of high quality.

Yibao Restaurant uses lighter and purer safflower oil to cook ingredients over an open flame, and the fried tempura noodles are crispy and easy to eat, and rarely greasy. Served with sea salt or white radish puree mixed with tempura sauce, tempura sauce is lighter in saltiness than soy sauce, and radish puree is a very good anti-greasy ingredient, which can make the fried dough coat absorb the sauce and mix it with radish puree, which is sweet and juicy and very refreshing. Either way you eat it will have a different taste experience.

Yibao currently offers a set lunch and set dinner, with the price starting from HKD480 and the set dinner ranging from HKD1000 to HKD1500. The set menu includes tapas, tempura, rice bowl or chazuke, dessert and more. We recommend the "Chef's Recommended Course", which has no menu format to increase the sense of surprise of dining. With eight bar counters and four tables, Yibao Restaurant is relatively compact.
