Shanghai Foreign Bookstore - Institutional Review

If you are keen to visit bookstores, if you come to Shanghai, Fuzhou Road is an old street that cannot be avoided. Fuzhou Road has the largest number of bookstores in Shanghai, where Shanghai Book City, antique bookstores, foreign bookstores, and science and technology bookstores converge. Push forward 100 years, this street is Shanghai's "Newspaper Street" - newspapers, newspapers, times and other newspapers gather here.

Shanghai Foreign Language Bookstore is located on Fuzhou Road, walking towards the Bund, and it is easy to find this Shanghai-style bookstore. The bookstore, formerly known as the Shanghai branch of the International Bookstore, was officially renamed Shanghai Foreign Bookstore in August 1958 and has been operating on Fuzhou Road for half a century.

Strictly speaking, the first and second floors are the main body of the foreign language bookstore, while the art bookstore on the third floor, the Matsusaka Bookstore on the fourth floor, and the Yijia Children's Bookstore are both special brand bookstores under Shanghai Foreign Language Books Co., Ltd. The first floor is mainly engaged in genuine foreign language books, supplying a large number of foreign language novels, character biographies, travel guides and other books, which may be the richest in Shanghai. The second floor is ascended by a retro circular staircase, where foreign language textbooks are the main characters, and teaching aids in English, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, and other languages are displayed in different languages, waiting for language learners to come and read them.

Because of the Matsusaka bookstore, the 4th floor has become the most lively place in the entire bookstore. Matsusaka Shoya is the Japanese department of a foreign bookstore, selling original Japanese novels, comic strips, the latest magazines, photo albums, and other publications, as well as many DVDs and anime game merchandise such as toys, figurines, and gacha games, which are sought after by ACG people and Japanese idol fans, and many fans of the surrounding cities will use it as an important travel destination. The children's book hall is also located on the 4th floor, where there is a wide variety of children's picture books and children's books, many original children's books imported from abroad, and exquisite and interesting pop-up books, which is a good place to visit with children.

Foreign language bookstores are open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. every day, so it is not uncommon for readers to come all the way but close their doors. In addition to foreign bookstores, there are many bookstores and stationery stores on Fuzhou Road, and Shanghai Book City and antique bookstores are also worth visiting.
