Kerry Hotel, Pudong is a five-star hotel brand of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. The Cook is an all-day dining à la carte and buffet restaurant specially designed by Stickman Tribe, a professional design consultancy engaged by Kerry Hotel.
The Cook's Executive Chef Ng Kian On helped establish a reputation for Yi Cafe at Pudong Shangri-La, where he earned a reputation for using the highest quality fresh ingredients every day. Upon his arrival at Kerry Hotel, Ng continued his practice at Yi Cafe and achieved excellence for The Cook with a wide range of food stalls and well-crafted dishes. He was also named "Most Leading Chef" by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in April '17.
The Cook has 13 stalls, including Chinese, Cantonese, Western, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Malaysian, dessert stalls, seafood and more. The dishes at each stall are made by local chefs with exquisite skills, and the selection of ingredients is also very particular. Each stall in the restaurant has its own characteristics, such as the Japanese stall of Blaze Sushi, the Thai stall of Tom Yum Gong, the Indian stall of Butter Chicken, the Western stall of black truffle hot spring eggs, and the Chinese stall of Chaoshan Lion's Head Goose, steamed gentian fish, mangrove sea duck, Hainan Dongshan goat are all rare dishes in other buffet restaurants, which are very worthy of diners.
In 2018, Kerry Hotels' Executive Chef Wu Jian'an led a team to launch the Yunnan Cuisine Feast, for which they went to Yunnan to learn local cooking techniques and bring them back to Shanghai, where diners can enjoy Pan-fried Matsutake mushrooms, coconut chicken matsutake mushroom soup, porcini mushroom cream tube noodles, Yiliang roast duck, Honey Xuanwei ham and other dishes with Yunnan characteristics at The Cook.
Located on the ground floor of Kerry Hotel, The Cook features an outdoor terrace booth that can accommodate up to 365 diners. The Cook buffet is very cost-effective, not only affordable, but also much higher than most buffet restaurants in terms of quality and quantity.
