Mandarin Oriental, Pudong - Mandarin Kitchen - business reviews

Mandarin Oriental is renowned not only in the hospitality industry, but also in the food and beverage industry. The excellence of its restaurants has made it the most Michelin-starred hotel group in the world. Mandarin Oriental, Pudong's Yongyi Ting and 58° Steakhouse are led by award-winning Michelin-starred chefs. The quality of the hotel's cafeteria, Mandarin Kitchen, is also very good, but the number of dishes has decreased recently, and the reputation is not as good as before.

Mandarin Kitchen's wide range of cuisines is mainly delicatessen, so in addition to the rich Chinese cuisine, Southeast Asian and Japanese cuisine lovers can also feast on it. Each stall is cooked live by a dedicated chef, and the ingredients are of good quality. The restaurant also has a wide variety of seafood dishes, such as lobster, small green dragon, arctic shellfish, snow crab legs, and salmon belly. However, the seafood production of Mandarin Kitchen has decreased recently, and oysters will be available in unlimited quantities in the past, and many diners have also made a special trip to come for oysters, but now the oysters are gone, according to the person in charge of Mandarin Kitchen, there is no preparation for oysters in the near future, but it is not ruled out that oyster feasts will be launched during the festival in the future, so it is recommended to call in advance before dining. Mandarin Kitchen's Indian and Southeast Asian dishes have been well received by diners, with Malay laksa, Hainanese chicken rice, chapati and curries all featuring authentic flavours. Mandarin's Kitchen is also a paradise for dessert lovers, with macarons, tiramisu and pudding cakes as well as a variety of handmade ice cream flavours.

For example, in the summer, the Mandarin Kitchen will stage a "Mussel Feast", where all the mussels are flown directly from various countries to the local area, so that diners can not only choose their favorite varieties, but also have the chef cook them live according to their own tastes. In autumn, Mandarin Kitchen will serve unlimited hairy crabs, including steamed crabs in bamboo cages and drunken wine-scented hairy crabs, so that crab lovers can feast on their appetite here.

Although the Mandarin Kitchen is located on the basement level of the hotel, it has a double ground floor design, and the floor-to-ceiling windows on the other side of the restaurant allow diners to enjoy afternoon tea during the day. The restaurant is clean and bright, and the table setting is not very crowded. The waiter has a good attitude and can patiently listen to any dining requests of diners.
