Grand Hyatt Shanghai - Cafe - Reviews

Grand Hyatt Shanghai, a subsidiary of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, is located on the 53rd to 87th floors of Shanghai's landmark Jin Mao Tower. In addition to more than 500 luxurious rooms and suites, the hotel also offers Chinese, Cantonese, Western and Japanese cuisine. Located on the 54th floor of Jin Mao Tower, the café is an all-day buffet restaurant, where diners can also order Western and local dishes.

The café has an open kitchen, so diners can watch the chefs in action. All dishes are displayed on an oval granite bar that surrounds the open kitchen, and meat dishes such as grilled lamb chops, steaks, fish, pork and more are available. Seafood dishes such as lobster, salmon, scallops, crab legs, and sea crabs are available in unlimited quantities, but they are slow to be introduced, and the seafood is not large, so it is not enjoyable to eat. Oysters are usually served in the evening, but the time of production is not fixed, and diners often rush to the bottom, so diners who love oysters need to consult with a consultant in advance. There are many kinds of hot dishes in the restaurant, including fried shrimp, braised lion's head, braised beef brisket and other Chinese food, as well as all kinds of Hong Kong-style roast meat, roast chicken and duck barbecued pork, all of which are cut to order, but the taste is decent and there is no brilliance. The highlight of the restaurant is the variety of desserts, all handmade by the chef of the restaurant, tiramisu, mango pudding, chocolate cake and macarons are all popular with diners.

The Jin Mao Grand Hyatt Cafe is not very cost-effective, and there are not many types of food during non-festive periods, but the desserts in the restaurant have always maintained a high standard, and diners are more recommended to come here for afternoon tea than a buffet. Like the lobby tea pavilion of the Park Hyatt Hotel, the view of the Grand Hyatt Cafe is a plus, but it is slightly inferior to the lobby tea pavilion in terms of decoration, and the dining environment is slightly crowded and lacks privacy.
