Pudong Shangri-La Hotel-Yi Coffee-Merchant Reviews

Pudong Shangri-La's Yi Cafe has been highly acclaimed since its opening, and has always maintained the leading level among Shanghai's star buffet restaurants in terms of menu richness and offerings. Yi Cafe Restaurant is constantly innovating in terms of menus, and every once in a while it offers new food stalls to catch the attention of diners. Shen Hongfei, the general consultant of the first and second seasons of "A Bite of China", also praised Yi Coffee, calling it his favorite cafeteria.

There are 11 food stalls, each with a chef, and there are 170 kinds of food, so many dishes often leave diners at a loss for where to start. At the entrance of the restaurant, there are fruits and vegetables, ice cream and nearly 30 kinds of desserts, among which the chocolate fountain is very popular with children. Adjacent to the dessert stall is the seafood stall, which has a large amount of seafood, but there are not many types of seafood on weekdays. If you want to eat a satisfying meal, it is recommended to go to the restaurant first, because the main event is in the back half of the restaurant. The second half of the area starts with a Western food stall, which is dominated by barbecue, including steak, Australian rib eye, fish, roast chicken, baked potato chips, etc., and there are German sausages and New Zealand lamb chops on the barbecue grill next to it. Next up are the Indian and Southeast Asian dishes, which include dozens of exotic dishes such as hash browns, butter chicken curry, Malaysian satay barbecue, tom yum soup and more. The Middle East stall next to it focuses on grilled meat with membrane and hummus. On the opposite side of the Indian stall is the Chinese food stall, where freshly made whole suckling pig and roast duck are freshly made, and diners can ask the chef how they want to eat it, whether it is sliced or wrapped, the chef can satisfy it. This is followed by a variety of Chinese hard dishes, such as bullfrog, mutton, fish, beef brisket, etc. At the Chinese food stall, it is easy to find two huge crockpot soup stoves, and the chef will ring the gong to remind diners around 7 o'clock and start serving crockpot soup, which has two flavors: cordyceps stewed chicken soup and seafood soup. However, the supply of crockpot soup is limited, so diners should go early to pick up their food. The biggest feature of Yi Coffee is that it has a wide range of dishes, but it is impossible for diners to taste all the dishes here, so it is recommended that diners can take a stroll around the restaurant first and choose only the food they are interested in.

In the early stage, Yi Coffee attracted the most attention from diners at the stall "Shen Ye's Baby", where five dishes were carefully selected by gourmand Shen Hongfei, which were called flower chicken, bald butter, drunken crab paste, small meat and eggs with popping pulp and pork lard eight treasure rice. Among them, the small meat and eggs and lard eight treasure rice are the most amazing, the wine used in the small meat and eggs is Shanxi Xinghua Village Fenjiu, the meat comes from No. 1 local pork and is configured according to the five-to-five fat and thin, the wine aroma and meat aroma are integrated, and the taste experience is rich; The pork lard eight-treasure rice comes from the hands of Sister Wang, who is famous for making drunken crabs in the first season of "A Bite of China", and its ingredients are red beans with a large amount of sand and large longan, and the lard is the plate oil refined from the fattest part of the pork belly, so that the eight-treasure rice made is sweet, soft and glutinous, and evocative.

Located on the second floor of Shangri-La Hotel, Yi Cafe Restaurant has a large space of 350 people and 4 private rooms, the largest of which can accommodate 15 people. Yi Cafe has an open kitchen design, so diners who are interested in ingredients can meet the chef face-to-face. At the seafood stall is a huge fish tank rendered in sea blue lighting, with many brightly colored tropical fish swimming inside, and diners who want to sit next to the fish tank are best to call ahead to make reservations. The waiter is friendly and closes fairly quickly, and diners often come back from picking up their food to find that the leftover plate has been taken away by the waiter.

Yi Cafe has a buffet throughout the day, but the variety and quantity of ingredients in the restaurant will vary depending on the time of day, and the best time to eat is from Friday to Sunday for dinner. The Sunday brunch at Yi Café is also worth recommending, as it has a variety of dishes compared to dinner, and interested diners can choose to try it on Sunday.
