Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Foreign Chinese School-Institution Review

Founded in 1955, it is the first school in China to be funded by overseas Chinese, and is located in the well-known villa area of Guangzhou. The Overseas Chinese Foreign Chinese School was referred to as Qiaowai, which initially only set up primary education, but in 2004, it began to add a junior high school, and in order to meet the needs of running a school, the school expanded its campus. Qiaowai covers an area of 21,330 square meters, with teaching buildings, libraries, basketball courts, badminton courts and other advanced buildings.

Qiaowai is the only public nine-year foreign language school in Guangzhou, that is, the integration of primary and junior high school education. In layman's terms, after graduating from primary school, you can go directly to the junior high school of the school, and parents do not have to worry about their children going to junior high school. Of course, if you don't want to go to junior high school at our school, Qiaowai will also respect the student's wishes.

In 2007, the average score of the first batch of Qiaowai junior high school graduates ranked second in the district middle school, and 95 students entered the national demonstration high school, accounting for 51.6%, and the average score from 2010 to 2013 ranked first in the district's public schools. The 2017 high school entrance examination was a fruitful year for overseas Chinese, with 112 students scoring 698 points in the early batch of high-score priority submissions, accounting for 40.73%; 254 students reached the score line of 622 points for early admission, accounting for 92.36%.

As of the end of 2017, there were about 20 classes in the middle school of Qiaowai, including students from the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, Germany and other countries. There are 118 teachers in the school, 95 with bachelor's degrees, 13 with master's and master's degrees, with a bachelor's degree rate of 94.7% and a bachelor's degree rate of 100% in the secondary school. There are 11 senior middle school teachers and 24 first-level middle school teachers. Among them, Qiaowai's foreign language teachers are extremely abundant, 18 English teachers have passed the professional English level 8, and many teachers have been to the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore and other countries to receive professional training.

As a foreign Chinese school, Qiaowai "adheres to the three major positions of English practice", namely the campus television station, English radio station, and campus English corner, and also carries out various forms of English cultural activities, such as English textbook drama performances, English speech contests, foreign proverb calligraphy displays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other activities. The annual foreign language culture and art festival is more popular among students and has become a major business card of Qiaowai. Qiaowai junior high school offers second language courses, providing elective courses in French, German and Japanese, but at present, the second language does not really play a significant role in the promotion of junior high school students to high school, and many students just cultivate it as a hobby. Qiaowai implements parallel classes, and there are no key classes, but their English courses are divided into AB classes for small class teaching, which are divided according to the English level of students. In addition, most of the students said that they did not have much homework after school and could complete it at school after school.

Qiaowai implements a day school system, does not provide accommodation, but generally cannot leave the school at noon, the school provides lunch, and shares the canteen with the primary school. In terms of clubs, the school has Model United Nations, Bookworm Salon, Photography Department, Drama Department, Choir, Chinese Orchestra, etc., and the school also organizes study tours to the United States, Europe and Australia every year, and holds reading festivals, science and technology festivals and sports festivals. It is worth mentioning that many overseas Chinese associations have won many awards at home and abroad, and the level is relatively high.
