Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou-Southeast Restaurant-Business Reviews

Guangzhou's premier Southeast Asian restaurant is Shangri-La Hotel's Southeast Restaurant. The Southeast Restaurant, formerly known as Xiangtai Thai Restaurant, has a history of 10 years with the opening of Shangri-La Hotel. The menu covers dishes from six countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia and India. The chefs at the Southeast Restaurant are strong. Sister Shangri-La's guest chefs visit the Southeast Bistro on a regular basis, so the restaurant's menu is regularly updated with new flavours. One of them is Chef Yanavit from Shangri-La in Bangkok, who has cooked for Princess Sirindhorn and Princess Chulabhorn, the daughters of King Rama IX of Thailand. Angus, who has been the head chef since its opening, also visited Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore for in-depth training. As a five-star hotel restaurant, the production of Southeast Restaurant can be seen at a glance at the strength of raw materials. Malay Samba prawns, Sin Chew chili crab, Rendang beef brisket curry, and prawn tom yum soup are its signatures, among which Malay Samba prawns use 100g of tiger prawns into the dish, which is the size of a palm, and six or seven can be seen in one case; The shrimp in the tom yum soup are sea shrimp, which are very elastic and the taste is not at the same level as ordinary shrimp. All spices are flown in to ensure authenticity. The menu is not extensive, but it is classic. Among them, shrimp and grapefruit salad, Peranakan chicken curry, and steamed fish with lime in northern Thailand are worth recommending, and the staple dishes are also good in Sin Chew fried Guidiao, Thai shrimp fried noodles, and Singapore lasa noodles. You can also communicate with the chef to change ingredients or adjust flavors, or suggest dishes that are not on the menu. For drinks, we recommend Lemongrass Love and Tom Yum Martini, the latter of which is a cocktail of ginger, longan, lime and lemongrass from the south of Kate. Located on the second floor of the hotel, the southeast restaurant features bamboo basket chandeliers, dark purple wooden tables and chairs, and rattan sofas. The dining space is spacious enough and the lighting is dim, making it a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere for couples to date. The service is warm and considerate, the waiter will ask about the satisfaction of the dish at the right time, even if you use group buying, you will not slack off at all, and it completely matches the five-star quality. The fly in the ointment is that the tableware is not atmospheric enough, the southeast restaurant is equipped with three baby chairs, if you need more, you need to inform in advance, and you will be charged a corkage fee of 200 yuan / branch for bringing your own wine. The restaurant is generally only open in the evening, closed on Mondays, requires advance reservations, and is subject to a 16% service charge per order.
