Located in the southwest of Yandu District, Yancheng City, Dazong Lake is the largest freshwater wetland in Yancheng, with a water depth of 1.2-1.5 meters, which is especially suitable for the growth of hairy crabs. Because it is a cross-water lake, the inlet and outlet channels around Dazong Lake are dense, and the water quality is often updated, so it has unique advantages as a breeding lake.
 
In 2009, all 185 chemical companies and four lead-related enterprises in Yandu District were shut down, making it the first "chemical-free zone" and "lead-free zone" in northern Jiangsu, which is of great significance to benthic animals such as hairy crabs, which are susceptible to pollution. In 2017, Dazong Lake won the title of "The Most Beautiful Water Landmark in Jiangsu", and in 2018, Yancheng City passed the pilot acceptance of the national water ecological civilization city construction with a high score of 93.2, and the natural environment is reliable.
 
But before that, Dazong Lake had also experienced similar pains as Yangcheng Lake. Due to excessive reclamation, the lake suffered from silt deposition before 2011, and the water quality deteriorated. Yancheng City had to "retreat to the lake", dig up the dredging blockage, divert the water of the Yangtze River into the lake to purify the water of the Dazong Lake, and remove 18,000 acres of purse seine nets on the 26,400 mu lake, leaving only a fishing sightseeing area. This operation has reduced the breeding area of each family, but the "retail household" model has been transformed into standardized farming, so that sustainable ecological farming can be realized.
 
As a regional public brand, Dazong Lake has also carried out standardized aquaculture, which is managed by the government as a whole. Its crab seedlings come from the provincial level or above, put into the lake purse seine net, or by the low-density stocking of river ponds, with a total breeding area of 160,000 mu, quite large-scale. In terms of bait, Dazhong Lake purifies the water body by transplanting aquatic weeds, stores snails and trash fish to simulate the natural food chain, and also feeds special pellet compound feed for river crabs, chilled trash fish and corn. In 2017, Dazong Lake even produced 9 taels of "crab king" and 6.8 taels of "crab queen".
 
Even though the quality is good, the brand building of Dazong Lake started late, and its reputation is much lower than that of other lake areas. It was not until 2014 that the Yancheng Municipal Government led 126 large crab farmers to establish the "Yancheng Dazong Lake Hairy Crab Industry Association" and decided to promote the unified brand "Dazong Lake". Since then, Dazong Lake has successively reached cooperation with five major e-commerce platforms, and has entered the field of vision of consumers with an online price that is one percent lower than the market price. In 2018, the price of 12 non-gift boxes in Dazong Lake did not exceed 1,000 yuan, which is very cost-effective, and the gift boxes are slightly lower than other brands, ranging from 488 to 1288 yuan.
 
Because the brand started late, the logistics construction of Dazong Lake is not as perfect as Gucheng Lake and Yangcheng Lake, so it can only send SF Express cold chain by default, and the delivery time is not promised, basically 24-hour delivery in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, 48-hour delivery across provinces, and 72-hour delivery in remote areas.
