Chinese consumers are more familiar with its other name than Courvoisier: Napoleon. In the DNA of Courvoisier's cognac, the warlike French emperor played an important role: in 1811, Napoleon visited Perth and tasted Courvoisier's brandy, so he ordered an increase in the cognac ration for his troops; Napoleon III granted the Courvoisier the title of Imperial Supplier. In fact, in addition to France, the royal families of Denmark, England and Sweden also favored Courvoisier.
 
Courvoisier made a major contribution to cognac – contributing to the diversification of the French cognac grade. At the beginning of the 20th century, Courvoisier introduced a Napoléon cognac, a classification that was not codified in cognac regulations but was adopted by many cognac brands, and Napoléon became a cognac grade between V.S.O.P and X.O.
 
Courvoisier does not have its own vineyards and rarely carries out independent distillation operations, but rather takes the form of acquisitions, contracting with more than 1,000 wineries to buy unaged eaux-de-vie, as well as the original wines after aging, and then aging and blending them themselves. The combination of blends of original wines from different estates with different personalities is one of Couvoisier's strengths.
 
In China, Courvoisier's sales champion is Jinzun V.S.O.P. This V.S.O.P is a blend of eaux-de-vie from four regions: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fringe and Superior Woods, with an average ageing time of 7-12 years. Courvosier V.S.O.P has aromas of flowers, vanilla and gingerbread, with a smooth and round body and a particularly fruity finish. The price of Jinzun V.S.O.P is generally about 240 yuan, which is very cost-effective and worth a try.
 
Courvoisier X.O is mainly made of the original wine made from the white grapes of the large and small champagne regions, as well as the original white grape wine of the marginal area, which is rich in flavor and mild in taste, and the most rare thing is that the price is affordable, the price of X.O grade is about 600 yuan, which is the most cost-effective X.O in several major cognac families.
