YBike from South Africa is an emerging manufacturer of children's walkers and scooters. Its popularity is not too high, and almost no one knows it in China, but its products incorporate some targeted designs about balance, which have been appreciated by the industry.
The Myproscooter website named YBike's GLX Pro the best toddler scooter of 2018, along with Radio Flyer's My 1st Scooter and Razor's Jr. Folding tied. In 2010, YBike won the Gold Award at the Oppenheim Toy Awards for its walker. Established in 1989 and judged annually by Joanne Oppenheim and her daughter's independent children's products media, the awards have become industry benchmarks and one of the top three toy awards in the United States.
YBike's scooter products have a good reputation. The highly acclaimed GLX Pro is a three-wheeled scooter suitable for 5-year-olds, with both safety and performance in mind. Like many three-wheeled scooters, the GLX Pro's handlebars are non-reclining and rely on the rider's center of gravity to shift for steering. This model uses 125mm polyurethane wheels with cassette bearings for less speed attenuation and smoother steering. The GLX Pro's pedals have anti-slip threads and fender brakes that completely wrap around the rear wheels, making it safe at fast speeds. However, its body is made of plastic, which is not as hard as a scooter made of metal. The GLX Pro handlebar height is adjustable between 71-82cm.
The shorter GLX Cruse is aimed at children aged 2-5 years old, with a maximum load change from 50kg to 20kg for the GLX Pro, and a reduction in body size and wheel size. The most important feature is that the riser has a curved design, which helps children with poor balance to lower their center of gravity and get started faster.
YBike's toddler three-wheeled scooter products are not many, and the sales volume is far less than that of big brands such as Micro and Globber, but it is better in terms of price and solid workmanship. If your child loves scooters but doesn't have enough balance to handle a two-wheeled scooter for the time being, consider YBike's three-wheeled scooters that combine performance and safety.
