Recommended models: Odourless, Tropical Strength, Heavy Duty
Aerogard is Australia's number one personal insect repellent brand, owned by Reckitt Benckiser and sister brand to the household insecticide Mortein. The product was first developed by Doug Waterhouse of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia, and became famous after Queen Elizabeth II visited Australia, and has been selling well in Australian pharmacies.
Aerogard's mosquito repellent comes in three ranges: Odourless, Heavy Duty and Tropical Strength.
The odorless type is the most sold series in China, with a price of 50 yuan for 175 ml. Because its main ingredient is 92.8g/L of icaridin, which is relatively mild and can provide 4 hours of protection, it can be used by children, but it is not recommended for children under 1 year old. The enhanced type replaces the ingredient with 40% DEET, although it sacrifices the skin feeling, but it has a stronger mosquito repellent effect and can cope with sweating, but it is not sold much in China and needs to be purchased overseas.
Suitable for mosquito-prone environments such as rainforests, the super-strong type is a mixture of 11.5% DEET and 26.4% MGK 264 synergistic amine, which can improve the stability of DEET and provide 6 hours of protection. However, in the complex tropical rainforest environment, the level of repellency brought by such an ingredient ratio is still somewhat stretched, and it is recommended to choose the high-concentration DEET series of SAWYER or REPEL to ensure the protection effect. Aerogard super strength is currently available in China is a 50ML ball type product, priced at around 58 yuan.
