Beijing Arctic Ocean Food Co., Ltd., a well-known carbonated beverage brand, began in 1936, a popular soda brand in the 80s and 90s, and an earlier artificial ice-making enterprise in Beijing, specializing in the production of beverages, canned food and cold food

The predecessor of Beijing Arctic Ocean Food Company was the Beiping Ice Factory in 1936, which was the first artificial ice-making enterprise in Beijing. After the Lugou Bridge Incident, it was used as a special warehouse for the Japanese army. Later, the ice factory resumed operation, but the business was dismal and it closed down around 1948. In 1949, the ice factory was nationalized and renamed the Beijing New Ice Factory. In 1951, it began to produce soft drinks, and officially registered the "Arctic Ocean" trademark, which is composed of snow-capped mountains and white bears. In 1954, with the approval of the city at that time, the "Arctic Ocean" officially settled in Anlelin Road, Chongwen District. In 1956, it merged with 8 private soda factories and 43 small food factories to form a state-owned enterprise with cold food and beverages, and changed its name to the local state-owned Beijing Food Factory. Later, under the personal intervention of Premier Zhou Enlai, Watsons in Shanghai moved to the capital and cooperated with the Beijing Food Factory. In 1958, it began to produce canned food and changed its name to Beijing Arctic Ocean Food Factory. In 1969, it was changed to Beijing People's Food Factory. In 1985, Beijing Food Factory was restructured and established Beijing Arctic Ocean Food Company. At that time, the factory site covers an area of nearly 90,000 cubic meters, with a construction area of 83,000 square meters, 4 joint ventures, and more than 2,200 employees.

It has invested more than 28 million yuan to invest in the introduction of 18 automated production lines such as soda production canning line, Tetra Pak production line, ice cream production line, tomato sauce production line, etc., with a total value of more than 70 million yuan. From 1985 to 1988 was the glorious period of the company's history, the output value of the Arctic Ocean Company exceeded 100 million yuan, and the profit reached more than 13 million yuan, mainly producing beverages, canned food and cold food. With a production capacity of 10 million dodges, it is the largest manufacturer of soda in Beijing. There are 130 varieties of canned food, including meat, poultry, fruits, and vegetables. Among them, the "Great Wall" brand canned food was sold to nearly 30 countries and regions in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Japan and Eastern Europe, earning an annual foreign exchange of 10 million US dollars.

In 1990, with the tide of reform and opening up, Beijing Arctic Ocean Food Co., Ltd. cooperated with foreign investors to establish four joint ventures, namely Beijing Pepsi Cola Beverage Co., Ltd., Pepsi-Arctic Ocean Beverage Co., Ltd., Beijing Darmei-Arctic Ocean Food Co., Ltd., and Changxing-Arctic Ocean Fast Food Co., Ltd. At that time, the annual output was 50,000 tons of Pepsi Cola, 50,000 tons of Arctic Ocean brand beverages, and 10,000 tons of ice cream. Eight kinds of products have won the Quality Product Award of the former Ministry of Light Industry, and three varieties of canned pork sausages, canned tomato sauce and special soda have won the National Silver Award. In 1990, it was awarded the title of Advanced Export Unit by the Ministry of Commerce. Five employees have been awarded the title of "Beijing Model Worker". In 1999, the overall planning project of Beijing was launched, requiring all enterprises in Beijing to relocate the people and pollute the people, including the Arctic Ocean Food Company. In 2000, Arctic Ocean Food Company has moved to No. 2 Guangyang Street, Daxing Industrial Development Zone. At present, Arctic Ocean Food Company is preparing to build a cold food production base, which is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of cold food after completion, and at the same time, actively seeking new production projects. The company's products continue to be cold, and the brand retains the 'Arctic Ocean'. Everyone expects that the cute big white bear that represents the symbol of the "Arctic Ocean" can reappear in the market.
